aaronf75
Has anyone experienced engine shaking at 50mph after a snowstorm? Was running great 2 days ago. Blizzard yesterday. Today it shook at 50mph. My wife has an Impreza and same thing happened
TRSCobra
Probably was your wheels that were out of balance from being packed with snow.

rouar
Definitely, clean the wheels out before you leave. They'll still shake but with less ferocity.
joeleodee
Probably was your wheels that were out of balance from being packed with snow. This. I heard a rattling upon hard turns, but it went away. I figured it was probably just ice buildup.
RyanGT
I had the same experience a few years ago when it snowed lots here in Seattle and I was high-centered on a parking lot. So I rocked the car back and forth, back and forth until I was freed. The ABS sensors lights came on flashing. And I believe the CEL also came on. Got on the freeway and felt the whole steering shaking at higher speeds. I really thought I had broken the car! I pulled over to inspect the car, cleared all that snow stuck between the spokes of the wheels and then it drove fine. Now I know the cause and I can laugh about it. . . I have enough drama for now.....
bmx045
I had the same thing happen yesterday and nearly shit. I thought a wheel weight or two popped off, then I noticed all the snow in the inside of my rim.
Magic Marker
Probably was your wheels that were out of balance from being packed with snow. Yeah, I had a bit of wheel shake for a bit. But then all was well. I'm sure it was just the packed snow. 2011 Volvo S60T6 & 2013 Volvo XC60T6 Polestar

lordchilly
I decided to clean all the ice buildup at the wheel area cause I also felt the vibration. Couple of whacks. These two flaps broke off. Wondering if its really broken or just need new push screws. Hopefully, It can wait for good day to put back in. SCHM1AN
After a good snow I decided to have a little fun in a parking lot, and as soon as I got back on the road I noticed the steering wheel was shaking pretty good. After about a mile it stopped, but for that first mile my heart nearly sunk.
subiedad51
Chilly you probably just knocked some of the poppits off. I've replaced mine countless times.
lordchilly
This whole car is made of poppits...lol I found two more missing from the little mud flap in the rear. And my poor front lip, got to rivet more into it
snow05gtRI
snow either inside the spokes as people have said, or in the wheel well around the tire. i had snow/ice stuck in the mudflap area of front/rear wheels and had serious vibrations going on. kicked it out and its good
gethoht
Had the shaking problem due to snow unbalancing the wheels happen to me a few times. In super thick slushy conditions it seems that the snow also packs around the transmission and makes the car sound weird, hard to shift and vibrate a little more through the chassis. SBT
Wheels completely clear of all snow and ice? Likely the only thing it is. That or flat-spotting if you've left it parked for a long period (more than a day) in cold temp. - Pro amore Dei et patriam et populum -
