dr_sharp
There aren't a lot of threads discussing the cryo treated rotors... does anyone have any experience with them? http://www.fredbeansparts.com/index.php/stoptech-subaru-legacy-gt-cryo-stop-rotors.html http://www.erzperformance.com/05_09_Subaru_Legacy_GT_StopTech_Cryo_Stop_Rotors_p/120.47024cry-legacy.htm http://www.frozenrotors.com/store/1911%20FZR But what I was really interested in is the Centric Cryo treated rotors. Everyone seams to love the 120.47024 rotors [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Centric-Parts-120-47024-Premium-Brake/dp/B000IY4A2W/]Amazon.com: Centric Parts 120.47024 Premium Brake Rotor with E-Coating: Automotive[/ame] And on Centric's website they make a mention of a cryo version... but I could not find anyone selling them... lol
Th3Franz
I run a set of Centric Cryo for track use. Cryo treatment does reduce wear for metals and many professional race teams swear by cryo treatment, especially for endurance racing. It improves heat dissipation and they are less prone to warping or cracking. That said, one can expect twice the service life out of a cryo treated rotor vs non cryo. If the cost is reasonable, then it is worth it. I think I picked up my Cryo rotors each for $25 more than the base Centric premium Cryo Stop brand is cryo treated Centric rotors btw -Franz The end of a Legacy http://www.youtube.com/th3franz
dr_sharp
Thanks for the info... The best I can find is $200 shipped for the cryo stop. I can get a pair of the non-cryo centric premiums on amazon for 125 shipped (amazon prime). So that's ~$38/rotor extra. I don't track my car (yet) but I do use my brakes abundantly on the street and southern texas gets pretty hot in the summer, so higher rotor/pad temps are expected. lol
Th3Franz
FWIW, I would be running both sets as Cryo Stop but when I originally bought my Centrics for street they didn't have the cryo option available then. -Franz The end of a Legacy http://www.youtube.com/th3franz
subawang
I was wondering the same thing and plan to run the cryo stop's next session on the track.
Th3Franz
I discovered you can cryo treat metallic brake pads as well with similar results. I haven't tested that yet myself though -Franz The end of a Legacy http://www.youtube.com/th3franz
dr_sharp
If anyone has non-cryo treated products that they'd like to get treated, here's a company that does it for relatively cheap. The only pricey part is that you have to pay for shipping both ways, which makes rotors not really worth it... http://www.metal-wear.com/racing%20prices.html lol
AZP Installs
I had some cryo treated rotors and they only lasted about 10% longer than non cryo treated ones. I felt it wasn't worth the extra $ for them. -mike
