Fursty
So basically I have a clunk in the rear end of my 98 GT sedan, my friend who is a mechanic said that my shocks are shot and thats the reason for the clunk. All of the shocks, front and rear need to be replaced. What do you guys suggest for shocks on someone with a tight budget?
kaz98gt
kyb gr-2s! they're a pretty cheap strut, and your gt will thank you for it!
98LGTLover
I think I'm going to have to get 4 of those for my car! I know my front ones have been shot for the last 30k..

Bassnectar
my car rides like a boat in the front and I think ive had the engine stutter in extreme bumpiness sooo ordered the kybs
kaz98gt
throw some better springs on it too! I need some spacers on mine unfortunately :/ the agx's are even better, they're adjustable and more meant for track stuff. but the gr-2s are a good mix of street and track. Kentbox
Apparently I have the same issue with my rear end, but the dealership told me it was my sway bar links. I'm no expert, but just throwing that out there. Check them before your shocks.
kaz98gt
I have a clunk in the front end; today I took a rubber mallet to the exhaust system to find a rattle and got it fixed! but I never got around to the front end
98LGTLover
When I got over bumps I have something that rattles up front and my steering wheel shakes really bad. I'm getting a new power steering rack soon but I don't know whwt the rattle is.

98LGTLover
Yeah I'll tell my parents that. They are doing the steering rack and I'm doing the transmission, we split costs for repairs on my car.. The steering rack is $700! Unbelievable.
JB3
Unbelievable? You should try owning an Audi. $700 is chump change in Audi dollars.
98LGTLover
I'd love to own an Audi but because parts and labor are even more expensive I will pass.
kaz98gt
a 98 audi has more problems than a 98 legacy; trust me I've been that route. the subaru can take a beating from previous owners and still be in good shape after everything, but the audi needs alot of special attention so little things don't fall apart. best example: electrical bugs. they're EVERYWHERE
