  1. What's up everyone, long time no show around here. I've had an A4 for about a year after I got rid of my 98 LGTL, but looking at getting a 4th gen gt in the next year or two. Might as well get back into the forum life; I didn't see this mod anywhere on the site, but for those who have the clear corner mod and don't want to shell out for stealth bulbs or leds, this is almost too easy to do: http://www.a4mods.com/index.php?page=webcontent/pages/tails.html&category=3 Yeah it's linked to an audi site, but it's a good write up. All the corners have been cleared on my a4, and for baked headlights with the reflector removed, it looks awesome
  2. ^^ same here dude. Cool concept, wish I had done an upgrade to the whole brake system while I had it apart though...
  3. I'm gonna look into this when I get home, this would be something i'd want to experiment with.
  4. This. I had my master cylinder changed out under a recall, and everything was bled properly and new fluid put in and whatnot. Even with the same older pads on back then, I noticed better pedal feel with the new cylinder in. Now with my new gear, it feels great, but yeah I know what you mean about the softer brakes compared to other cars. My dad's audi grabs and doesn't let go; it's night and day compared to my subaru. That 7-series master cylinder swap is an interesting idea...do you think there's a larger master cylinder out there from a fozzy or something that could be swapped in to ours for some extra power to the brakes? Or is there an aftermarket upgrade that we can pick up?
  5. I'm looking forward to your writeup camron, the methodology you take behind all of the mods is impressive. Good luck with the rest of the swap...I wish I knew more about the brakes to give you a hand haha.
  6. Great, can't wait to see a write up on this. You've done a great job documenting everything from the last thread, and I'd do this if my brother didn't go behind my back and buy new pads and rotors already keep us posted!
  7. Cool, I'll have to check out the roll center adjuster. I've noticed bump steer more and a little more roll after dropping my car on h&r springs. So the roll center adjuster includes tie rods and ball joints for both front sides? Any cheaper alternative?
  8. Defintely a good call to replace the HGs anyway. I'm putting my money on either the t-stat or a huge slug of air in the system. I never elevated the front end of mine when I replaced the coolant, I think that bleeder valve is in the best spot that I've ever seen on a car...easy to reach, high point, great stuff. Test out the t-stat you have in there now and see how it goes, but according to everything else out there, all signs point to the genuine subaru t-stat for a replacement. Hope it all goes well!
  9. Not true, the NAPA one I have hasn't given me any problems yet, but the general consensus is that OEM is the way to go. I'd definitely save yourself the trouble and just go that route, even if it is a little more pricey.
  10. lol, i want silverware like that
  11. Yay! Moar pictures, and keep doing work on that puppy. Motivates me to do more with mine haha.
  12. Very glad to hear everything is moving along nicely, you seem to know your way around working on a car. Keep at it! You're replacing the HGs in this job, right?
  13. Good idea with the hair dryer! Now just steam-clean the carpets and you should be free of water forever (ish)
  14. Interesting, might have to keep an eye on this for mine too. Right at the top corner of the headliner by the driver's side, I've noticed a tiny bit of moisture very rarely. It'd still be a good idea to check out though. I'm sure you can pick up some hose from a local hardware store that will have it cut to the right lenght and be the exact size you need. Good luck!
  15. because snakes are tasty and babies are full o venom
  16. Then it'd be a true sleeper, only saavy car guys would look for the FMIC in the bumper. The others would be like "Oh, no scoop means no turbo which means no power." If you really want to mess with them, take off the spec b badge...sleeper to the extreme
  17. Dry everything off, then give it another rinse down and see if you can't find the cause of it by checking for leaks everywhere. Hunting down leaks is a bitch, sorry to hear about that.
  18. I want one!! In a gt, and a manual please. Something along the lines of 60k miles. Kthanksbye
  19. As long as you don't beat the hell out of it, and don't drive beyond the 4 miles that you intend to, you should be ok as far as oil is concerned. Awesome! I wish you were closer, I'd love to see something like this being done to learn about it and everything, but it's whatever. Good luck with the project, then pray that the mod bug doesn't bite too badly
  20. ^^ this. That's exactly what you want to do if it overheats, you do NOT want oil failure. Congrats on the purchase! It looks like a clean, straight wagon that will run for awhile. If you want to do brakes, I'd suggest a wrx swap with those calipers/rotors. I hear that they fit right behind the snowflakes. Also, upgrading the suspension will be your best friend in the long run; I put fresh kyb-gr2s on mine with higher spring rate h&r springs, and it's night and day from stock looking into a rear sway for the spring! Knock out the HG problem before starting everything else. Sounds like you know what you're doing...good luck!
