oem ej255 piston +ringlands - 0.97lbs

oem ej255 con rods + bearings - 1.38lbs

if anyone is intersted i used a combination of 3 things to clean:

brake cleaner

"parts cleaning solution" at work. It a drum of shit with a pump that flows through a hose to a brush that you scrub your parts with as the solution is sprayed onto the part

a PB Blaster knock-off + scotch brite

The 3rd one worked the best, by far.

From my humble estimation and based on weight/power ratio calculation: Removing 100kg(220lbs) from a 3.0r Legacy (stock weight =1490kg(3284lbs) without a driver) gives a correlated/simulated hp gain of 17.625 hp. Not necessarily though as there are couple of factors involved, but I believe it's a good way to estimate it.

1490kg/245hp= 6.0816

(1490kg-100kg)/245hp= 5.6734

New correlated hp= 1490kg/5.6734= 262.625hp

Interior stuffs alone gives this easily!

dr sharp yes it's a crash plate, on both sides (for the driver and passenger).

saffarco, 220lbs just on interior bits!?!? Obligatory 'better for all directions, and for gas mileage, not just horsepower.'

What would make someone destroy their own hard work and punish a community as some sort of perceived retributive strike against the forum or an individual is beyond me.

Wonder what happened. I liked the guy.

There was no hard work involved in anything I did here. You can all easily replicate the efforts I put forth. Or just use the internet like teh guy above did

After years of searching for ways to reduce weight I finally found the most efficient weight savings of all: remove the oil from the engine - that crap is heavy and not needed at all.

Also, if anybody needs/wants the weights I still have an excel spreadsheet, just PM me.

lol
