Any 2.5i Guys Interested in Skid Plates?

You're welcome! Post some pics when you get it. Tracer-X has one for his LGT/OBXT (it goes on whichever is rallying at the time ), and it looks like a pretty nice piece. You can it see it in a few of the pics in this thread: http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121565

I was quoted $271.68USD shipped to Vancouver, BC. Oil filter and drain cutouts are additional $15 each.

Have it shipped to Pt Roberts and clear it through customs yourself. Should save a few bucks that way.

Also, CDN $ is very strong right now, so a decent time to buy.

ahhh that sucks, you will need both cut out.

They offer them without the cutouts because a lot of their customers regularly rally their cars and want full coverage, and are willing to remove the skidplate to do an oil change.

I had test-fitted the first edition of the Rallitek at their suggestion. That did not work, hitting the '06+ forward-biased header. Sent it back at no cost to me.

There was a second version that was supposed to fit, but apparently didnt, I did not try that.

What version are they on now? I'm generally happy with them, but I think this may have fallen off their screen.

So I gave up, especially since all I really wanted was a splash pan.

We don't do any serious gravel, but puddles can splash water up around the battery.

So I made a splash pan that hopefully prevents that. 1' x 2' zinc-coated steel sheet from Home Depot. Bend to match the plastic splash guards. Drill 2 holes to fasten it between the bumper cover & frame. No cutting required.

I'll eventually get some pics up.

  • 3 months later...

I installed a rallitek skidplate last week. I like it because its huge, it covers everything. It's got cut outs for the oil filter and drain plug, however, the oil will still drain out on to the skid plate. And it makes one hell of a mess because there are no grooves in the skidplate to channel the oil out.

Maybe I just need to jack up the right side of the car when I change oil.

FWIW the factory LGT/OBXT plastic/composite underbody tray is more than adequate for protection against general winter hazards (ice, rocks, general road crap). I got one for my OB shortly after I got the car. Cost around $100 IIRC.

  • 4 weeks later...

Just picked up my Primitive skidplate.

It won't fit my '05 2.5i with borla replica headers without an additional spacer it would appear.

NOTE - it shouldn't be an issue at all if you have your factory manifold. I've contacted Paul at Primitive and am just waiting for his reply. From what I can understand, he's often away on weekends, either racing or teaching at rally school etc.
