sup fellas,

i'm in the middle of this project. im only roughly following the walk-through...

issues:

- finding that teardrop seal at my local home depot

- fitment inside other rubber seals

**Solution??? Screw the puppy on! you can screw the crown vic honeycomb at the top -- into the stock grille assembly. there is extra plastic.

I also drilled mini holes at bottom for zip ties. i trust screws and ties more than insulation, glue and hope.

Next steps will be fully sanding the grille's mouth, painting the honeycomb. what do you guys think for honeycomb finish>???

- silver powdercoat/ dark metallic

- black

- body color?

Great idea! It's such a good idea that the very first of these grilles ever made was built this way.

I would know. ;)

nice work. i got WAY to impatient... and started making flagrant cuts at the bottom, and fell short. this is NOT a job for those in a hurry. This will take a handful of hours to get it right. Not an hour or two like i was hoping.

i ended doing a mesh diy one, which was more my speed. lol

i like your idea though! nice job and idea!

i would go black btw...

I agree - I think you ended up with a 05-07 emblem, instead of the 08/09 sized one. With the chrome surround, the 08+ badge just barely covers up the old Ford emblem location.

Whta did you end up using between the honeycomb and the surround? Looks nice and clean!

I know this is an old thread but I did this today. Mines a 05 but I will actually add the window seal because I like the look. It turned out pretty good. Just need to Add window seal, bondo on some small spaces, 08 emblem and paint flat black.

How'd you get rid of the around the front of the grill? Just sand it off? Any tips for that? Hoping to do this eventually, and I can't decide if I like it better with or without the chrome... any pictures of the final product?

Here's what it looks like. 90% finished. I've been lazy and haven't finished it.

It will fit the stock bumper. I had to cut out most of the bumper around the grill mount area in order for it to fit. I left the grill alone and unmodified. The stock grill will also fit.
