cholmes1
He gave up is my guess. It does not make any sense to pursue this project once you get down to the 'nuts and bolts' level. The body alone is a large undertaking as stated, so is the suspension, the interior, etc. It just would not make sense. I will try for the front end swap at some point down the road, but I think that will be as far as I take it. Even trying to copy the Tuned By STI model from AUS is a real chore and costly affair
underdog1425
I will be pursuing an s402-esque project but not nearly as in depth, will only be doing bits and pieces of that list linked above, but enough in my opinion to put my foot in the door of s402 conversion, without getting bogged down. Was hoping this and other build logs were still going =[
dustincredible
Here the list of parts you will need. Contact Yuki @ Japanparts and I'm sure he'll work up a quote, shipped to your door. Please remember to post pics when you're done! +1 it won't be complete if its still a LHD instead of a RHD. Nexmo.co
As people have stated, the idea is somewhat silly. It doesn't make sense financially, not to mention a lot of the parts are near impossible to come by. Trying to get S402 parts is like trying to get VW R32 parts. want some r32 parts? i canz sell you a whole car for 12k!
edfernandez2
Nah, not dead just financial situation has me on a stand still, I notice that the cars are difficult to come by now but I still plan on doing it.
planelazy
You can always surf Japan-partner.com and see if they have any S402's.. I just looked and they didn't have any available, but there was tons of other Legacy's... BTW these are all JDM cars that you can import..

Just for clarification, you cannot import the majority of these cars. The U.S. has VERY strict rules regarding importation of cars (See Bill Gates and his Porsche 959). I believe the car has to be determined to be unique to qualify for the 'Show - Display' category and ~15 years old OR for general use it must be equal to or greater than 25 years from the date of manufacturing. Meaning even the old Impreza 22B from 1998 will need to wait until 2023 before legal importation Cars don't last that long in Japan so if you are looking to import you would be better of looking to Europe. Too bad the s402 is RHD only. If it was available as LHD I would be all over it! I wonder why it didn't get the H6/EZ30 engine, but with turbo or supercharged. 05MNLGT
Thought I'd post here the s402 parts I've acquired and still getting them for reference. Killing time during covid. Not doing RHD. Thought about it, but not. Or maybe later. Note: can't do 100% of the s402, some things just won't swap easily or work. - looked into the jdm roof swap. not impossible, but super expensive to ship and fab in. jdm didn't have curtain airbags so roof doesn't have humps. - looked into the s402 engine and management. not impossible, if the usdm market got a specb wagon, would have be way easier. I do have the wiring harness and ecu for a specb just in case I get a wild hair. current as of 12/29/20 Edited December 29, 2020 by 05MNLGT

05MNLGT
s402 front mat badging. Couldn't use the mats that came with. Still have them, but RHD. Did use the rear s402 mats.

05MNLGT
the bigger flatter serial plate replaces VIN plate in the engine bay.
05MNLGT
this is a unique cover. the airbag is actually attached to the STI badge. You can't separate the two. if the airbag goes off, you are saved, but the bag and cover are toast.
05MNLGT
the shift knob only works with 6mt transmissions. i hate using it, because it wears it, but driving gloves help.
05MNLGT
These were and option on the s402/tbsti models. came standard on the jdm specb GT. you have to be very careful installing these, as the STI imprint can come off with a little bit of brake fluid. they do help a great deal with pedal feel, but most other ss lines would do the same. 05MNLGT
the s402 front arms are the same as the jdm specb gt/tbsti/s402 and usdm specb. the arms are from jpn and bought new jdm ball joints directly from jpn subaru, as I've noticed jdm parts are of better quality. 05MNLGT
I'll add these to the rear once i get around to installing the s402 bilstiens. it's a visual spacer. the wagon is level as is, but visually the rear "looks" lower. these washers help the visual sag. 05MNLGT
the front top hats are the same across usdm specb, jdm: specb GT, tbsti, s402. Had to work with the bilstiens. The usdm rear hats can be used with bilstiens, but i'm using the jdm ones for authenticity. This it a comparison between the usdm and jdm specb. 05MNLGT
these are the s402 fenders, one of the "holy grail" parts. There was a flood of s402 fenders that hit the market last year. 3 set total. this was very very rare to have this many on the market. mine are the wr blue which is nice because i can put them on as is. BUT my paint work is 4 yrs old, the jdm s402 fenders are 12 yrs old, so the blue is off slightly. will repaint this spring.
05MNLGT
this was tricky. the jdm GTB fender liners left a gap at top of the liner and fender. the s402 liners have an add "gap" plastic to fill the space. they were cheap, but shipping was robbery. note. to build this, parts are pretty reasonable, but shipping will make the parts very expensive. 05MNLGT
this was the first part I acquired. the trim is a black/gray metallic-ish color. you have to swap the pre facelift to the post facelift to make the grill fit 100%
