IwannaSportSedan
Holy smokes... Other than the wonky wheels... which I still can't get enthused about... The V10 car looks amazing. I know a lot of people prefer the Gallardo to this, but I would very much prefer the sleeker, jet-fighter looking R8, even before considering the cost savings. Carbon black and carbon-fiber flared blades... Carbon fiber, extended leather, and black alcantara headliner in the interior... This looks like a stealth fighter, yet even more aerodynamic. I suppose the Lamborghini in black on black on carbon fiber would probably be the angular epitome of a road-bound F-117. The Audi looks more streamlined... a bit more SR-71. I still think the R8 needs the V12 TDI's clear roof panel, and a HUD on the dash. I would also go back to a blacked out front grille, black rear window vents, and blackened headlight housings. There is too much matte silver in the headlight housing, with the jet black intake ducts. Blacking out the headlight housings, just leaving the chrome sweep and ring around the projector, and the reflector behind the signal, but blacking out the matte silver parts, would further disappear the headlight housings into the intakes, and make the LED lighting pop when on, and disappear when off. psi365
An R8 V10 has the 5.2L V10 from Lambo, the trans is Lambo, the frame is Lambo. Then Audi slaps its name on it. If you want a Lambo get a Lambo, not a psuedo Lambo.

Actually, Audi owns Lamborghini, not the other way around, even if the Gallardo came out first, it came from Lamborghini under Audi ownership. the V10 is Audi. The trans is Audi The chassis is Audi The interior is Audi The exterior is Audi So I guess that makes it an Audi. Some people just get it with a lamborghini body, interior and wheels. Besides... Lambos should have V12s... not that I would complain about a V12 powered R8. The R8's bodywork is so much sleeker than Gallardo's anyway... If people want a Lamborghini, why not buy a Murcielago in the first place... It has the V12 and the jack-knife doors.

If you wanna get all technical then VW(or VAG Volkswagen Auto Group) actually owns Lambo, Audi, Seat, Bugatti, Bentley, Skoda, and a few others and maybe in the near future Porsche. The engine, trans, and frame were all designed by Lambo not Audi.

IwannaSportSedan
No, I was just giving him a hard time, and I know VAG owns all those brands. I was just using his point to turn on it's head, and say that I like the R8 better than the Gallardo.

It has the V12 and the jack-knife doors. Are you serious? It's a 160k MORE for a Murcielago over a Gallardo. Almost double the cost of a gallardo. That's like saying why did you buy a used 05 LGT when you could have bought a new 335i.... eh?
IwannaSportSedan
If you are a lamborghini buyer, the odds are if you can buy a Gallardo, you could probably swing the Murcielago, and the Murcie has the V12 and jack-knife doors that are traditionally Lambo-associated. A v10 and normal doors is less of a trademark for Lambo. And if not... and ~150K give or take $20K is the budget... I don't really see how the Audi is inferior to the Lambo. I think the audi is much cleaner and sleeker looking than the cubist Lambos. The audi probably has a more civilized ride quality, considering what I read about the aerodynamic and suspension work that Audi did on the R8. Guest heightsgtltd
I disagree completely. It's all relative, just like a 3 series buyer isn't a 7 series buyer for BMW. There are people for whom $150K is nothing, and therefore doubling it is no issue and there are people for whom $150K is a bit of a stretch where a Murcialago is way out of the galaxy of possibilities
