Mega Users paintpollz Posted February 17, 2012 Mega Users Share Posted February 17, 2012 I installed Group N transmission mount, crossmember bushings, and rear shifter bushing this evening, but I am not having the same experience as you all. For some reason, I am getting a pretty serious vibration through the car that is RPM dependent. I have no idea what this could be other than possibly lining something up incorrectly. The shifts feel great though! did this happen as sooon as you installed it or has it been a reoccuring problem? "Remember Danny - Two wrongs don't make a right but three rights make a left." fahr_side
The rear shifter mount transfers a lot of noise and vibes into the cabin. Recommend KB short-shifter, shift lever bushings and front mount. Leave rear mount stock. easton
This happened as soon as I fired up the car after installation. I forgot to mention that I also installed LGT springs/bilsteins at the same time, but I think that shouldn't matter. I put in a Kartboy short shifter a while back, and finally swapped out the large round bushings that come with it. I did notice that it was kind of difficult to put on that rear shifter bushing, and I didn't lubricate it. Is it possible that this issue is coming from the shift linkages? I also wonder if it is possible that one of the crossmember mounts is a little bit askew. Total quandary.
fahr_side
Just read the post above. Swap the rear shifter mount back to stock and NVH will be much lower. The rear mount doesn't help that much with shift feel compared to the others but it sure adds a lot of buzz to the cabin. easton
Changed out the rear shifter mount and the Kartboy shifter bushings to stock and it is significantly better. There is still an elevated level of vibration and noise, but it is pretty acceptable now.

It's the rear mount that does all the damage. bigjweb
I'm sure that most will disagree with me about this mod, but I did it today and was not impressed. I ordered the group N trans brace and group N crossmember bushings (bought car with KB shifter bushings already installed). This mod was super easy and took about 30 mins or so. I just don't see the difference. Money not well spent IMHO.

I just added the rear diff mount inserts to this a few weeks ago and just love the whole package. It just gets rid of so much rubber-banding. bigjweb
No upgraded engine mount. But I have bigger problems now. Went to the drag strip today and destroyed first gear. Still have 2-5 but first is real loud.LOL. Not sure how to handle this. New gears? new first gear? 6 speed swap? Prob whatever is cheapest for now. dahoseman
I thought I would resurrect this thread because I think I might have ordered the wrong thing. I ordered a set of Megan Racing mounts that I had thought were compatible across turbo 5MT drivetrains. I went to install them and noticed they don't look like they're compatible. http://www.ebay.com/itm/150749624856?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 The motor mounts seem to be missing the twisted plate to bolt to the frame, which is attached on these versions. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Group-N-Subaru-Motor-Mounts-Set-Legacy-Gt-STi-WRX-See-listing-fitment-/160896274315 Any suggestions? Can I get an "adapter" plate or are the engine mounts not going to work?
UMD_03LGT
Sweet, sweet thread resurrection. Does anyone have any idea if the 02+ 5MT WRX Group N mount will fit my 03 GT? I'm assuming/hoping yes...?
