Max Capacity Posted July 9, 2009 Author Share Posted July 9, 2009 Hey it could happen, the oil is flowing easier... so he's losing a lot less power that the engine would be using to drive the oil pump. When I changed from 5w-30 to 10w-30 the other week I noticed a decrease in mpg. I experienced better fuel consumption figures when I changed to 5w30 instead of 10w30. The viscosity difference on a cold engine can have a significant impact on the fuel consumption. Max Capacity Posted July 9, 2009 Author Share Posted July 9, 2009 I think my drop in mpg is due more to the fact I'm keeping my right foot a little lower on the loud pedal a little longer, ok may be a lot longer. My shortest drive is tipically 20 miles to and from work.
