MoffatRodney
Hi guys, I bought a bunch of Perrin stuff a few months back - uppipe, top mount intercooler, and the 2 piece catted downpipe. Finally got into my mechanic today to have the stuff installed - went without a hitch, til he went to put the downpipe in. The first part of the downpipe (the shorty) connected no problem - the second piece, not a bloody chance. The way it's angled it basically smashes against the underside of the car. My car's an 06 with the 5 speed manual - I've doublechecked my parts order and confirmed that I did order the pieces for the manual. Has anyone else had fitment issues with this? I'm somewhat pissed off that given the amount of money this stuff cost, that it wasn't tested properly. Furthermore, I was all ready to go with a Stage 2 tune on my AP from PDX - my mechanic left the car the way it is, so currently the uppipe, and intercooler have been replaced, and the front piece of the downpipe is the Perrin, and the rear is stock. Am I safe to run this tune in the meantime?
snow05gtRI
yes there are known fitment issues with perrin DPs (and their CBE, and their TMIC)
MoffatRodney
Yeah, I've read about the intercooler fitment issues. Oddly enough, it fit perfectly, no bumping against the clutch master cylinder cap, and the uppipe and first part of the downpipe went on no problem. BigBad
You should be fine to run your tune with the stocker third cat piece along with the Perrin front piece.
StoplightAssassin
When I installed my Perrin 2 pc DP I bolted the two sections together before going to install it. You also have to bend/pry the heatshield back a bit so it doesn't hit the DP. I'm pretty sure both were stated in the instructions.
