fredrik94087
Didn't know where to put this. Forgive me if it is a repost. This is a video of an aftermarket exhaust for the 3.6R made by Lachute Performance "It's within spec" - SOA "Depth is only shallowness viewed from the side." - Fredism "So, how much did it cost for your car to be undriveable ." - Stephen (very close friend) "You have done so much it would be stupid to go back." - Sunny of Guru Electronics 2018Q50RS | 2015WrxThread | Shrek

Sheffield0351
My custom 3" single exit exhaust. Forgive me for the horrible sound quality, the wind decided to pick up right as I went to record it.
skrotes
Does anyone have a 3" resonator/mid-pipe laying around that they would like to sell and get rid of? I'm looking at the ebay style CBE for my OBXT and they seem pretty raw even if I were to stick with my OEM mufflers so I was hoping to track down a 3" mid-pipe with a resonator/silencer or just a 3" resonator that I could have welded in to tame it down a little. I'll post this in the WTB forum too but I thought I would get some results here too.
skrotes
Hey guys whats the deal with these ebay exhausts... http://m.ebay.com/itm/180908506209?fits=Model%3ALegacy%7CSubmodel%3AGT My plan was to get a cobb catted downpipe and then run this exhaust setup with my OEM mufflers to tone down how loud these can be. Anyways what do you guys think? Are there any sound clips out there for this type of exhaust?

skrotes
All you guys with OBXT's running the nameless exhausts for legacy gt sedans have you had any fitment issues? Also I have read that the cat-backs use a donut gasket to mount to the downpipe does this pose any serious problems when using an aftermarket exhaust? 98legwag
Installed Turbo XS mufflers on my 3.0R. The rest of the exhaust is stock. It also has a drop in AVO air filter and handling mods. LGTMKE
This thread may be old but still awesome! I'm extremely curious to hear a stock/OEM catback with a CATTED downpipe. Thinking about the Invidia catted downpipe with stock exhaust and would love to hear it before purchasing.

LGTMKE
Will sound exactly stock So Jumping from the standard diameter downpipe with oem cat to an invidia 3" downipe with a high flow cat won't sound any different? IMO a lot of the exhaust clips on here are too loud for that sleeper car I'm going for. I would hate to pick up clients for work and be embarrassed by an overly loud exhaust. I was hoping the Invidia 3" catted downpipe would provide a slight increase in growl without sounding very modded.

Kelvrick
Decided to cross post from the outback forums since it is exhaust related and it might help someone out. Did three of the exhaust videos yesterday, but the Stromung decided not to cooperate very much. As you can see, it is much darker in the third video with the stromungs. Ended up with two zip ties on one of the hangers before giving up. Went to a local muffler shop today to get a resonator installed and the hangers moved around a bit. Everything was recorded with a Samsung Galaxy S6 edge plus from on top of a Home Depot 5 gallon bucket at approximately the same distance. In case anyone is curious how the mid/y pipes are different between the systems. Stromung on bottom. http://i.imgur.com/stjvpiH.png Below is my mod list that is consistent across the videos that might make a difference. Snail Performance custom stage 2 tune Grimmspeed LGT intake Stock catless uppipe Cobb catted downpipe Cobb mid pipe with resonator Cobb Y pipe Stock outback mufflers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KV9cZSDQkNU Cobb mid pipe with resonator Cobb Y pipe AVO unadjustable tip LGT sedan mufflers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaadqWbcV1w Stromung V1 unresonated tips https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49kwFVUkUSA Stromung V1 unresonated tips Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resonator 1142 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gtqko9gP18 Final thoughts? The stock mufflers are nice for long road trips. Which is why the wife made me put them on initially. The aftermarket mufflers made me much happier around town but were a paint for my old man ears on the highways from 65-75. It didn't seem as bad after that, maybe the wind noise just drowned it out. I honestly couldn't tell much difference from inside the car between the cobb/avo setup and the stromung. A friend said the stromung sounded louder though. After installing the resonator, it got rid of that raspy sound from when coming down in revs. I much prefer the interior noise from the stromung resonated setup, so I'll be keeping that. I'll have to figure out how to do the bumper cutout and trim to make it look nice though. My Outback
