car looks good. Is it really that bright?

I was going to ask Gershon if his were as helpful as mine, when I have my headlights on and then turn the strips on it makes quite a difference. They are pretty damn bright.

haha that's understandable, last night was the second time I've opened my headlights and I was still pacing in the kitchen the whole time they were in the oven. Just remember to use 280 degrees for 8 minutes to pull them apart, and 280 for 5 minutes to put them back together and you got nothing to worry about. I even left my diy eyelids on when I baked them, and it didn't damage the paint or the foam

I think opening a headlight is easier and cleaner than an oil change. I didn't even put silicone on when I sealed them up. I think the goop stuff they used at the factory seals them up just fine. I have opened mine twice now thanks to a defective LED strip and all of you that persuaded me into changing my led strip layout.

So I really felt the need to have a LCD in place of the cubby and I think this is somewhat a cheep mod. It cost me $100. And if you do not want to buy an extra Vent cubby console then it could cost you less.

I started with buying an extra vent/cubby dash insert.

Then cut the cross beam that separates the cubby form the trip computer.

Then I made some plastic inserts to hold the 7" LCD at more of an upright angle. With out the plastic inserts the LDC would face at an upwards angle.

Don't mind the slots. Those were just in the plastic I used. I used a stackable mail trey because it had the bend I needed for the corners.

So now the LCD simply rests against the brackets I made and rests on the bottom as well.

I used the two top screw mounts for the vent and added one at the bottom with this V bracket that I made.

I have an iPhone and AV cord to plug into the LCD. At some point I hope to find a GPS with a video out that I can hook up to the LCD.

I will add more photos when I am finished.

Ok so i ditched the LCD and added a 7" Garmin that has video in.

And this is where I moved the trip computer.

I found it on eBay. It and I quote was a used display. I think I lucked out on the this one as most of the 7" at the $100 to $150 range have a resolution of 480x234 and the one I got is 854x480 and is still low res compared to a carputer screen but it works great for movies and photos.

wow that looks sick! (iamvivek) -> theres a thread on how to take apart your headlights. Im not electrically savvy so could you explain what a DRL is and maybe how to hook it up? where on ebay did you buy your LEDS?

Dude, you already have DRL's.

I decided to take on clear front turn signal project but while I had the lights apart I wanted to add a little something.

Anyone like the look of the new Audi A4 lights? Well I really do!

I found LED strips on eBay for $12 each including shipping. So I bought some to add into the headlights.

I plan to add a switch for them but for now I have them hooked up to my parking lights.

Anyone have any issues with the additional heat the LEDs are generating? I love the A4 look, but don't want my headlight(s) opening like a clam on a sunny beach while flying up the 'Pike on my way to work...

Great mod!

looks nice, but how much is that going to suck when you have to go in and replace the strips or a bulb burns out?
