LNeilB
Just picked this up Saturday. My blue 05 LGT is headed for the salvage yard next week, and I snagged an 07 for a great price. When I parked it near my 05 and compared the two, I noticed that the mufflers are different. But what really struck me is how low they hang. Does your 07 LGT look like this? http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s263/LNeilB2/rearview.jpg
VTGT
Eww thats not right. Try new exhaust hangers maybe? Something needs tightening.

Richard B.
Just picked this up Saturday. My blue 05 LGT is headed for the salvage yard next week, and I snagged an 07 for a great price. When I parked it near my 95 and compared the two, I noticed that the mufflers are different. But what really struck me is how low they hang. Does your 07 LGT look like this? http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s263/LNeilB2/rearview.jpg my 07 is the exact same way. left hangs lower then right. had it looked at and they said everything was good to go. assuming they did do their job. LNeilB
Ok. We'll see what I can learn in the morning. I'll crawl under and try to get a look. But I need an oil change, may as well have the dealer look at it. My 05 does not hang nearly as low.....

LNeilB
So all looks normal. How do I tuck the exhaust back up? Bend the hanger arms? http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s263/LNeilB2/P1020408.jpghttp://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s263/LNeilB2/P1020410.jpg
Gmoe
Ya, that's quite a bit low. Mine were really crooked and low when I bought the car. Asked the dealer nicely and they tucked them back up/realigned them. Not sure exactly how they did it looking at the hangers etc.
gianspi
You can flip the hanger 90 degrees and use the two middle holes for the muffler and chassis. Or use the middle hole for the muffler and get a slight tighter fit. enough zip ties and duct tape will fix anything.
drcaveman
My 06 LGT has the same thing. I tried three times at three different dealers to get that fixed they all say the systems is not falling off and wont spend the time of day to make it right. Time to fix it my self. Ill post photo when I get home.
nismoz
This "left side hanging lower than right" is very normal for 05-07 LGT. I tried to fix it myself but gave up because it looks like the mid/y pipe it self is the problem not the fitment of the muffler.
subie_dude05
mine isnt that low... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v192/elishafire/db368831.jpg
nismoz
^ even in that small picture, I can see left side hanging lower than right.
LNeilB
So they told me the Y pipe is bent, and that if I rotate the hangers it will cause the pipe to come in to contact with the chassis and rattle. They also tried to sell me $560 worth of mufflers to correct it. So the big question: Can I have the Y pipe heated and bent back in to correct shape (without detriment)? LMVT
Why is your 05 going to the salvage yard? Maybe you could swap out exhausts before it goes. 2005 LGT w/ dom. 3 + meth - Sold.
LNeilB
Already gone. I fought with my insurance company for 13 months to get rid of that car. Aside from a mirror swap, I wanted nothing to do with a part of it I was in an accident in June of 07. Battery exploded. Car ate itself from the inside out. And it looks like the frame was bent, even though I was told otherwise. Banking and Insurance Commission FTW
ehsnils
Heating the exhaust pipes shouldn't give you any problems, but don't heat any cat or muffler. Claiming that you have to replace the muffler system is weird and seems to be a way to milk you for money. And if it works fine otherwise and just looks a little off from the rear - you have the option to let it be too, and accept it as a slight weirdness. Spending hundreds of dollars on a thing like that isn't really giving you any more bang for the bucks.
AZZMAN
Does your exhaust hang low does it rock to and fro... That's not right you, need to adjust the hanger bars.
Bdubs
We already went over this, the Y pipe was bent, and moving the hangers will just make it rattle against the chassis. Plus, the car is gone, so problem #1 solved.
jamiesong
I just replaced my OEM system with an aftermarket. Someone has already asked for the stock Y, but if I can't get a hold of them, I can certainly let mine go for cheap.
