fweasel
I just read this on IWSTI and admit, I had also been previously misinformed... Torque specs for front brembo caliper mounting bolts is not not 114.3 ft/lbs Who ever spread this information is incorrect. I am not sure if this is what the STi shop manual says but if it does it is also incorrect. I just got off the phone with BREMBO USA and here is what i just found out. Torque spec for front Brembo caliper mounting bolts is 80 ft/lbs. BTW: The helpful brembo rep on the phone said 80 ft/lbs = 114 newton meters. Please be careful and let's stop the insanity of snapping caliper bolts and stripping caliper threads. ignore him, he'll go away.
Guest
Indeed the 2005 STI factory manual I have says 155 Nm = 114.3 ft-lb!!!!!
Underdog
Bump for visibility! Thanks for the info... I chased all the threads and antiseized them before torquing them. I like to back off the torque ~10% when I antiseize them so I only used 70ftlbs. It looks like the Legacy OEM rear caliper supports get torqued to 40ftlbs. I wonder if this is true for rear Brembo adapters as well? Mine are threaded M10x1.25. The Crimson Dynamo
GTLEGACY007
Question on this: should the threads be chased on a used set of Brembo's no matter what? Or is anti-seize enough? Also, is there Brembo specific hardware to use to mate the Brembos to the LGT hub?
wpmarky
the bolts are different, you'll need STI bolts.
GTLEGACY007
the bolts are different, you'll need STI bolts. Roger that. What'd you do on yours, anti seize only or anti seize and Chase the threads?
Underdog
Mine have held up fine with just anti-seize. Removed both front calipers recently for a wheel bearing replacement and all was well. The Crimson Dynamo
wpmarky
uh, neither xD I just put the bolts on. I'm going to take them off this weekend and put some anti seize, hope they come off ok.
GTLEGACY007
Cool, i'll just be going the anti-seize only route. I'm hoping that'll be good enough...
dschultz
I used 65 to 70lb-ft with anti-seize rather than 80 so as not to strip out the caliper holes.
GTLEGACY007
exactly what i was thinking. I'll apply some anti-seize, and torque them about 70 ft-lbs and hopefully that'll do it

integroid
which machine shop? how much did they charge? pm me if needed pls Ball Engine and machine. They built my original motor so they pretty much just did it for free. I just purchased the Heli-Coils and they put them in. I think they usually charge like $10-$20 each.
