COBB STS and poping out of gear issues

The picture you provided is mechanically DIFFERENT then the cobb V1 STS

The picture you provided has the pivot point and ball joint all on the same axis.

The Cobb V1 STS has the pivot point and ball joint on DIFFERENT axis...

Here's a picture for the sake of trouble shooting the problem...

Your right. The bolt hole (pivot point) is offset from the center of the center shaft of the shifter. It is also offset on the kartboy one. I guess that is not apparent inthe picture I posted.

The bolt hole (offset center pivot point) is to the front of the car(See picture in post # 4).

Alright. I took the console apart with the intent of reversing the shifter like many people here suggested.

It is impossible. The shifter will physically not connect to the shift linkage if it was reversed. Now that that solution has been shot down...does anyone have any other suggestions or advice?

Not without some more information and/or pictures. It is possible that one of the bushings accessible below the car is worn or out of place, causing the shifter to have moved back.

The shifter does not feel loose though.

Wouldn't it feel lose or have some free play then?

 It's sideways because I took it off to trim the interior rubber piece and didn't bother lining it up when I reassembled it..

And I though I was lazy!!!

That mark is from when the bolt was halfway out.

We drove the car without the center console surround thing on. It had not problems going into gear so the problem is the clearance with the plastic surround. I am not sure how to remedy the situation.

Wait from the looks of that pic you have the metal trim piece taken out?

I didn't take it out. Its under the peice of rubber under the boot.

Hmm i still think if you cut the corner off like on mine and then put everything back together you would be okay

I'd have to disagree. I think there's a larger problem at hand. What, I'm not sure though.

Neither the shifter or the shift linkage is coming into contact with that piece of metal. Additionally, when the center console surround thing is removed we have no issues going into second gear. Hence the reason I do not believe that modifying it will have any impact on the shifter contacting the center console surround thing.
