dasbigunit
Hey Guys, Do any of you know of a good place that explains how to do a clutch swap? I have the subaru tech docs pages CL-2 through 14, but I'm looking for either the facotry manual or a walkthrough on how to pull the transmission down. It should be factory pages 5MT 25 through about 29 or so... has anyone done it themselves? I've never done one on a subaru, but I've done clutch swaps before... is it more difficult with suby's? anyone? help? please? -EdMSA5T0505A54033 clutch disc and cover removal.pdf
dasbigunit
i found it, posting it below... still looking for someone who's done it themselves to rate the difficulty.... Thanks, EdMSA5T0505A54013 - MT 25-30 ASSY.pdf
whitetiger
well, you have to take the trans out. if you have a lift and a trans jack with air tools, then its a pretty easy task and can be done in 4hrs. If you dont have these things, then I wouldnt do it yourself.
Infamous1
Everything is pretty straight foward, the part I found most difficult was separating the engine and trans then joining them back together. If you have a hoist, it is a plus. If you are doing it on jack stands be prepare for fun and back aches
rao
+1 You can also remove the motor (or slide it forward a few inches). It is not harder than on other cars, but having a lift would make it a lot easier. dasbigunit
did you guys need a special tool to seperate the front driveshafts from the transmission housing? thanks for the replies by the way.
rao
You don't need a special tool for that. The flywheel bolts are TORX PLUS though so keep that in mind. Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT

FYI- I've got 45K on my 05 LGT, stage 2 since 2K. Launched maybe 50 times in its life. thanks, Jeremy
