Legend
Somebody please PM me if you see those 225/40/18 Direzza's for less than $139. I've been lurking on this thread and don't know jack about tires but will need to have these Michelin Alpin PA2's swapped out for the season real soon. CRAZY KEN
...after weeks of researching...surfing...reading...asking people questions...I have narrowed it down to 2 tires and size: 235/40R18 maintains sectional width I want and has enough profile to protect my rim than a 245/35. Contestant #1 Bridgestone RE-01R (180 A A) http://www.bridgestonetire.com/tireselector/GlamourIndex_BS_EN.aspx?productID=1111 Contestant #2 Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric (240 AA A) http://eu.goodyear.com/uk_en/tires/repository/Eagle_F1AS/index.jsp Tell me what you guys think...I can't go wrong with either, CRAZY KEN FYI...Goodyear are around $180-$190 & Bridgestone are around $220-$230! No Dunlop Direzza love Slightly below RE01R performance but blows it in the wet http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=
rexster
But the bridgestones are alot stickier. I doubt it. The eagles have slightly more tread depth which is in part responsible for the higher treadwear rating. The rest is the compound. In a recent test by the tirerack the F1 Asymmetric trashed the RE050 Pole positions which have a treadwear rating of 140. I bet the F1s are as good as the 01R in the dry and way better in the wet... I'm running the F1 GSD3s now and love them. the Asymmetric is a newly redesigned version made for heavy cars. All the sizes are XL rated. Given that one of the only beefs people have with the GSD3 is that they are a little soft, I imagine the F1 Asymmetric would be less soft...
