Installed: sti pedal set and momo shift knob

The pedals are a pain in the ass to get on. The bolts are to short, and the nuts are to small. The trick is to get the nuts started on the bolts, with the bracket and slide them on from the side, then tighten. I used an allen wrench and a pair of needle nose pliers to tighten them (who has a 5.5mm wrench anyways). But they look nice, and it was worth the 30 minutes it to put them on. I just wish the dead pedal came with them. :(

The shift knob is nice too, probably half the weight of the stock knob. It feels good, and I like it.

I'll post some pics in a bit.

Awesome pic! Did you have a flashlight on the seat for that lighting effect?

Seriously now, I had this set ordered as part of the price I worked out on my car, but somehow it got lost in the translation at the dealer. I ended up getting the WRX pedal covers and Autospeed dead pedal from MastroWRX.com - IMHO it looks better because I have the black interior and the rubber nubs are black instead of the red/pink. The point is, they were a serious PITA to install as well. I almost regretted getting them until I saw your post about the STI ones being hard as well.

Bottom line, whether you get the STI ones (and add a dead pedal) or the WRX set, they both look better than the stock rubber covers!

rallispec.com sells a set with the dead pedal included for $95

Not true.

You are thinking of MastroWRX.Com:

Here is the info from Rallispec:

http://www.rallispec.com/images_product/RSTA360_small.jpg

STi Polished Stainless Pedal Cover Set

  RSTA-360 Subaru MT $117

  RSTA-361 Subaru AT (GC/GF, SF, and BG/BF/BE/BH) $92

  RSTA-362 Subaru AT (GD/GG, SG) $92

  RSTA-369 Subaru AT (BL/BP) $92

Look at the pics - the dead pedal is from a RHD car and it sits against the center tunnel.

Yup, anything is better than those stock things. Do you have a pic of the wrx pedal covers?

yup, I had a shop light in front of the seat..

Are the pedals a direct replacement of the current ones? meaning the current ones come off. Or are they strapped around the back of the old ones?

How about the black wrx pedals??

The old rubber clutch and brake pedal just come off and the new ones are bolted on..but on the accelerator is put on over the rubber pedal.

thanks everyone else..

Yup - the pic was in my post, along with a link to the item on Mastro's online site.

The pedal covers are hard to get back over the metal, you almost need another set of hands to help but the space is so tight under the dash it won't work. The hardest part of the install is getting the pin out of the e-throttle assembly. I ended up not reusing the pin, but a long allen bolt and t-nut I had in my toolbox - I cut it to length after install and soldered the threads to be sure it doesn't back out.

Just be careful with that shift knob! It is colder that crap in the winter and gets hotter than heck in the summer!

I just installed the OEM Momo shift knob like that one and it's fine for temperature. There's enough leather on the top to keep most of your hand comfortable. And the knob goes great with my STi pedals. It's like wayne and I have twin interiors.. except he has the taupe leather and I have black cloth lol.
