MY08 WRX STI - Test Drove Today Pics up now!

Recommended Posts

Well I have now driven the ugly betty sti. Test drove with City Suby (Vic Park Western Australia) on 24/12. Good 45 minute drive up the freeway and some back streets. I took some pics from under the bonnet and inside and will post up later today. This one is the R Spec with Recaro Seats which are very nice and snug fitting. Could be an issue for some of the larger members here. The ride and handling are def an improvement over the Pig Sti which I had for 18 months. Tranny seems exactly the same as the old one, engine ditto. More headroom than I ever expected. Si Drive equiped but only drove it in S+ mode. Def better looking in the flesh and I expect they will sell plenty in the R spec model. Silver BBS rims come standard on R spec and look great. Bit of rumble but will obviously benefit from aftermarket zorst. Wide wheel base makes a difference in my opinion too. New grill and lip will help the looks heaps.

Performance is still there but more subdued in terms of throw you back in your seat experience. I was very pleased in terms of WOT feel in 2-3 gear. Got Wood!

If I were in the market for a hatchback then this would be it hands down but after getting out of it and back into my 07 Liberty Tuned By STi I really couldn't say I would want to swap cars but damn fine ride just the same.

Dealership says they come in a couple of new silver colours, red for the first time as well. Taking orders now for late Jan 08 off docks and early Feb in your hands. $65-70K for R spec version.

Holy Crap!! I didn't know the STI came with Recaro seats and duel exhaust tips.

The WRX STi is starting to growing on me.

I read the first post again. The Recaro seats are on the R Spec model. Nice.

I'm probably the only person that has Wu-Tang Clan and Paul McCartney on their mp3.:p

Lol the mazda 3 is crap, its a high 14 second car and you compare it to the STI a low 13s high 12s with a good driver or some light modding. There is a huge difference in performance. And FWD still sucks when launching your car.

If 1/4mi times is what defines a car for you, then yes, by all means get the STI.

OBAMA......One Big Ass Mistake America!

ok people it's Aussie $$ and don't even get me started on trying to explain currency and economies to you. As for buying a Mazda FWD well I think you may have sniffing paint out in the garage. This car goes very hard and is a big improvement imo on previous pig sti models. Lets see how it goes in the WRC against the Ford, Citroen, Peugot Hatchbacks currently taking the prizes.

Its a 264hp, 280trq fwd car, 0-60 in 6.1 seconds, our cars are mid 5s. It aint anything special. I dont know why you think its such a great car. I really jsut cant stand anything FWD, if you ever do start making power to the wheels it doesnt matter because they just spin. No matter if you racing in a straight line or a turn. Sure then sell electronics to keep the boost low in first gear and step it up in secodn and third but who wants to have to launch there car or drive it with less power than it should be making.
