Guest
I just discovered this interesting tidbit by comparing 05 FSM to 07 FSM. I did not see this mentioned here before. LGT 07+ final drive ratio is 3.90 vs. 4.11 on 05-06 LGT. What it means 07+ cars are geared taller, e.g. at 3000 rpm in 5th gear (with stock size tire) will cruise at 76.34 mph vs. 72.44 mph. Transmission gear ratios are the same, just different diffs. This applies to LGT only. OBXT final drive remains unchanged between 05-07 and is 4.44. So yet another slight difference between different MYs of our cars.... This also means that 07+ owners can just drop in 04-05 STI 6spd tranny (also 3.90), without the need to change the rear diff. chenc544
Are you sure it's '07+? I know '08 has the 3.9 final drive but I thought '07 still has the 4.11...

chenc544
I guess Subaru Research must have it wrong, it says '07 has the 4.11. It also has the wrong final drive for '07 Spec B so I guess it's not that surprising.

Guest
Nice - thanks for the info. Well, 2007+ SpecB is indeed also 3.90 fnal drive. Actualy the rear diff on SpecB is is 3.545, since the transmission has 1.1 reduction. 2007+ SpecB transmission is interchangeable with 2006+ STI transmission (same rear diff ratio).
