For the love of everything that is Subaru don't buy that!

First off, that processor is pathetic. It doesn't support MMX, SSE, 3DNow, or any other modern instruction set. Its only 32 bits, and its slower than an Intel Pentium II or AMD K6-2 of similar clock speed. Its slower than most 10 year old processors. In fact, its probably on par with a Pentium II 350 Mhz/AMD K6-2 350 Mhz processor. That processor was never meant to power a laptop. Its not even being used for what it was designed for.

Not only that, but you couldn't even run Windows XP on it, not that you could even FIT Windows XP on the 2GB flash drive, or run it with only 128 Mb of RAM. The bundled OS (Windows CE) sucks. The processor and OS are made for old first generation Palm Pilots. This is, strictly, a childs plaything. I wouldn't buy this laptop for anyone over the age of 7.

That system would only be good with a Linux operating system, and even then there is no software support anywhere for that processor. Unless you're a top level software engineer with an MIT education who wants to write their own CPU drivers for that processor, your options for operating systems are slim to none. Even finding one that will fit on the HDD is going to be hard. Your only option is to load an OS onto a flash drive, and boot from the USB port everytime you turn the computer on. That still doesn't solve the driver issue, but Windows CE is really not an option with today's programs. It can barely surf the web, let alone connect to it. There are virtually no programs that run on it, and the ones that do are horrible.

In short, most cell phones Literally have more processing power than that laptop. In fact, when it comes to straight up numbers, the Iphone or Ipod Touch could probably do 2 to 3 times the amount of floating point math equations per second than that laptop. The difference is the Iphone or Ipod Touch can actually run an operating system. Good luck finding one that fits on that hard drive. The list of things that laptop Can't do far outweighs the list of things it Can do.

If you want a truly portable computer that's high quality, has WiFi, onboard video and audio, and plenty of hard drive space... Get an Ipod Touch used from eBay. I don't even like Apple, but I like the Ipods. The Touch has more hard drive space, more processing power, more capabilities, and its smaller and lighter.

On a happier note, that free Car and Driver subscription is very useful!

Your right it would be slow running any windows newer than Win 98.

It supports SD cards so you can easily upgrade the storage space.

Linux natively supports the ARM processor so no MIT education required.

Alot of cellphones do have more processing power.

It is basically for browsing the net.
