dvdt
Well, it's nice and sunny in California and the boost gauge is installed. Here's the tee tap off the by-pass valve and the reducer installed on the vac line to the gauge. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b71/dv2dt2/DSCF1435.jpg I routed thru this grommet behind the glovebox. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b71/dv2dt2/DSCF1436.jpg hint: if you push the line downward, it comes out the bottom of the glovebox. You only need to remove the lower trim piece under the glovebox and reach behind the blower. This should save you scraped up arms trying to reach thru the small slot in the glovebox and hours of time trying to take the interior apart. Not that spent hours doing this myself. Mounted to the bottom of the clock http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b71/dv2dt2/DSCF1457.jpg Wires all connected http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b71/dv2dt2/DSCF1467.jpg And all installed. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b71/dv2dt2/DSCF1469.jpg I think the lights are a little low mainly because of my seating position so I may move the mounting of the gauge on the clock back (or forward in relation to the car) a little. I'm really liking this gauge. The only problem is that I'm sure my gas mileage will go down now because I tend to want see how many dots I can get to light up everytime I step on the gas. Thanks lossol!

lossol
Thanks for your update dv/dt! Looks like the gauge will work great with the 2005! dv/dt has some great pictures of the 05 install posted above. GTBoost model year compatibility: 2005 - dv/dt will be testing fit - WORKS 2006 - fits/works tested by me! 2007 - han will be testing fit - WORKS! 2008 - monkonmonk will be testing fit and function whitetiger, Two are available now! Others will be availble shortly. More boards are on order. VBG1 gauges available at www.gtboostgauge.com
Deer Killer
I'd like something like this that takes the AFR output from an LC-1 (programmable output voltage) but the LED's need to indicate numbers somehow, slightly different color for every point? i.e. 14 is red, 13 is yellow 12 is green, 11 is etc, say 2 leds per point? Doable? Need to really indicate 9-15, and off the scale either way.
lossol
Deer Killer, I moved your question here link. The quick answer is yes it's doable because the input range on GTBoost is 0-5 Volts. So it would be matter of re-configuring the leds colors and software. VBG1 gauges available at www.gtboostgauge.com
monkonmonk
I rec'd mine today and I will be able to do a test fit and such this week probably, if not on Saturday. I will take pics and such, but I do need to get some info on the wiring. Would an 07 be the same as 08. Any help would be great. Monk
lossol
Great, Looks like you guys got some snow over there. Looking at the pictures, it looks like the 2008 is going to be the same as the 2007, both for fit and wiring. That is an assumption on my part. I would follow Hans wiring hookup instructions. -BY(black with yellow stripe) is hooked up to the black wire of the "GTBoost". -L (blue) is hooked up to the blue wire of GTBoost. -YR(Yellow with red stripe) is hooked up to the red wire of GTBoost. I'll search for some more info on the 08. VBG1 gauges available at www.gtboostgauge.com

monkonmonk
Guys, I am going to give this a go tonight and based on all the pics should be no issue. I will post pics and such tonight or tomorrow. However, what parts do I need to hook up the vac line as I am going to pick them up tonight. What size tubing is in the car? What size tubing connects to the gauge? How much tubing did you need? Any help would be great. Really looking forward to this. thanks. Monk
lossol
How did things work out monkonmonk? No one seemed to come through with any info on the tube size. I just took the pressure sensor to home depot with me when I bought tubing, dont remember the size. dvdt
If I remember correctly, I used 1/4" polyethylene hose for the main run. I think 1/4" is the outer dimension. I also used a 1/4" fuel hose (inner dimension?) to match what was going into the bypass valve since the tee I bought was 1/4"x1/4"x1/4". I had to get two fittings to make a reducer to connect the two hoses. I don't remember what the fittings where called, OSH store guy helped me out. lossol
I had to do the same thing, A larger T, then to a reducer. The smaller of the tubes seems to be .185 INCH I.D. (whats that, like 3/16) with an OD of 1/4. VBG1 gauges available at www.gtboostgauge.com

monkonmonk
Alright guys, I gave it a shot and here are some pics... The wires plugged in... http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y256/monkonmonk/2008%20Legacy%20GT/GTBoostGauge010.jpg The sticky for the gauge... http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y256/monkonmonk/2008%20Legacy%20GT/GTBoostGauge011.jpg But, no boost hose installed as the place for your grommet there is a master cylinder for the clutch seen here... http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y256/monkonmonk/2008%20Legacy%20GT/GTBoostGauge003.jpg So I am looking at this option on the opposite side of the firewall, but I may need more hose and I need to make sure I can reach it from behind the glovebox... http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y256/monkonmonk/2008%20Legacy%20GT/GTBoostGauge004.jpg Also, a quick video of the gauge installed and the startup series... 2008 Legacy GT :: Boost Gauge Installed2 video by monkonmonk - Photobucket@@AMEPARAM@@http://vid7.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid7.photobucket.com/albums/y256/monkonmonk/2008%20Legacy%20GT/GTBoostGauge013.flv@@AMEPARAM@@vid7@@AMEPARAM@@7@@AMEPARAM@@y256/monkonmonk/2008%20Legacy%20GT/GTBoostGauge013 I hope to do some more investigating on the routing of the tubing. han
You can route it through the driver's fender. I kind of used this setup. Minus the nylon tubing. http://jsalmi.com/car/boostgauge/
monkonmonk
Also, my clock now is permanently on a bright setting. shouldn't it dim with the dimmer switch? The gauge changes over and resets itself when I turn on the lights. I will check the fender. Just looking for that factory look. Monk
lossol
The gauge should do one sweep when you put the parking lights on. Then it shuld sweep again when you shut the lights off. Your clock should still dim normaly but probably only when the parking lights are on. I do not have an 08 so i'm guessing here. I think this harness is pretty similar to the 2007, any clock dimming problems on the 07 han? monkonmonk
Well, hose hooked up and all works as it should...I guess. The clock still does not dim and I don't remember if it did before. Also, I did not realize that the car operates under a vacuum so often. Basically, unless I am accelerating heavily it does not show boost. Looks good though. I will be interested to see if I still like it after driving a bit more. Monk
han
Never realized it before. Just the clock doesn't seem to dim. I will try and look into it tomorrow.
monkonmonk
Yeah, just the clock. The gauge has two brightnesses though for when the lights are on and off. This is all correct, right guys?
lossol
On the 06 and I think the 05... The clock defininatly can be controlled by the dimmer when the parking lights are on, but not when the parking lights are off, it is then just one setting. Looking at the wiring harness you guys are tapped into the blue wire (illumination wire) The GTBoost gauge senses the voltage on this wire without affecting the voltage. It is isolated by a good 10k ohms of resistance. When the GTboost senses a high level or (12+ volts) it thinks the parking lights are on. when it senses a low (0 volts) it thinks the parking lights are off. I cant see how the GTboost is affecting the dimming on the clock, but let me know, if the clock is loosing the dimming function that stinks. Does the clock dim at all when the parking lights are on vs. off? VBG1 gauges available at www.gtboostgauge.com
monkonmonk
I just went out and checked. The clock no longer dims with parking lights on or off. Any ideas? right now at night it is kind of annoying to drive around with full brightness on the clock. Monk

Worst case, I don't see why you couldn't run off of that instead of the illumination wire. (Unless the illumination controls the brightness of GTBoost) If you don't vote Trump, out, you're a bigot who hates america.
lossol
Monk, Looks like your power lines are working good (+12 and GND) I think the problem is with the illumination line. Try disconecting the GTboost blue wire from the harness. If you clock illumination then works this would be the source, why? Not sure I don't know for sure. You should be able to then connect the illumination wire of GTboost to another illumination in your car. I would choose the one on the Radio harness. There should be a (V) violet wire - which is 12+ when parking lights are on. nemo, what does ftw mean in this case? FYI - The illumination line on the GTboost just looks the line to be driven high or low. I know on the 06 and 05 that there are two illumination wires. One is a just a 12+ when lights are on , gnded when lights are off. THe other is some kinda of illumination line for dimming I dont understand. (negitive voltage?, variable resistance controlled?) It has been my concern that we were tapping this one in the 07, and 08s but han thought his was working okay, so I firurged it we got it right. Perhaps not... no damage should be done the GTboost gauge is just pulling the circuit to ground with 15K ohms. Looks like the fix is to go for this other illumintion line, the (V) line on the radio. you sound like you may know some about electronics so I posted the input circuit for the illumination sense.
