Billy Dagwood
Those are going to look sweet! Now get them on the damn car! waiting for lugs. HURRY UP, LUGS!! For now I'll clean the wheels as best I can in my living room with dish soap and paper towels .. there's definitely some brake dust on them. ah, nasioc. other than that, though, they seem to be in great shape. Billy Dagwood
um, forgive me if i'm being stupid, but what exactly does it mean if two of the tires start to lose air when I take the valve stem caps off?
LowFast
Need newvalve stems, maybe?
Billy Dagwood
i checked with the seller, and he said that they always did that. There are o-rings inside the caps themselves (they're weird caps .. hexagonal, and metal), and once they're on, they don't leak. I guess I'll let them be for now and just keep an eye on them. I'll just have to make sure I tighten them down real well so that I don't get back to my car one day and find that i've got a missing cap and a flat to match
-TT-
when you pull the cap off does air RUSH out or is it just a slow or semi-slow leak? also, do you see a little wire sticking up in the center of the stem when you unscrew the cap?
Billy Dagwood
when you pull the cap off does air RUSH out or is it just a slow or semi-slow leak? also, do you see a little wire sticking up in the center of the stem when you unscrew the cap? It's not a fast rushing of air, but it's definitely happening. I'll check out how many PSI I'm losing per time before I put them on, but somehow I don't think it's that much. As far as the little stem inside the stem is concerned, yeah, it comes up just a little bit, and that's why the air comes out. but if i push back down on it MAYBE a millimeter with the tip of a pen, it sits perfectly, and no air comes out (and that's how far the cap pushes it down, plus it seals everything up because of the o-ring that's in there). Billy Dagwood
They're on! And they fit, too. Didn't roll the fenders. I'll say this, though, they sure are out at the sides of the car. Best pics I could get without a real camera and without much time until the sun went down. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/billydagwood/1017071707a.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/billydagwood/1017071707b.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/billydagwood/1017071708a.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/billydagwood/1017071706a.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/billydagwood/1017071706b-safe.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/billydagwood/1017071725b.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/billydagwood/1017071725a.jpg

BIU
Well you dont have to have the fenders rolled now because you're on stock height........ From the 42 offset and the way they protrude out your fenders like that i imagine you would definately need to have your fenders rolled... IMHO your car will look MUCH better with it dropped with those wheels..
LowFast
Drop that bab boy, and run alittle negative camber and you will be good to go.
Billy Dagwood
no, no dropping! I bottom out enough already on these crappy roads! I would consider stiffer springs, but no drop. I do NOT want to roll the fenders

I do NOT want to roll the fenders If thats the case then i would suggest the stock wheels actually look better on your ride/setup.... but hey its your ride so its just my "opinion" Plus technically with the stock ride height and the way those wheels sit, it wouldnt be bottoming out...its just that the wheels are sitting right under the edge of the fender...any sufficent travel of the springs will make the tire HIT the fender.. not scrape the fender wall...... like Xenonk said... you would need to roll the fenders

I think the offset on these really is just a little bit too low for the car. They don't stick out past the fenders, but they're definitely at the sides. I am pretty sure if they hit anything it'll be the fender liner.

Underdog
They look great! remind me of my tarmac2's kinda... I was gonna say to your OP, don't sweat the 225/40-18. I definitely overthought how scary it would be on the crappy roads around Boston... The ride is great and keeping a close eye on tire pressure (38f/36r) keeps my mind at ease. Half of me is looking forward to going back to my winter setup (stockers + Dunlop m3's) just to see how different the ride really is. Otherwise, I'm gonna be sad to see the stock wheels on the car again... The Crimson Dynamo
