spyguy
It depends on how you wire them. Most people (myself included) have them set to white during the day, and then transition to amber/red when the headlights are on. There are 3 wires behind the gauge, red 12+, orange 12+ and ground. Ground is obviously always grounded, but with the red wire powered the gauge is white, with both the red and the orange powered, the gauge is orange. (i might have my colors messed up, but you get the point) When you put your gauges in the cubby possition it's convenient because the cubby has a light that turns on when the headlights are turned on. Tap it for your orange wire, and bam - white without headlights on, amber with them turned on. FYI: I used white at night time for the first little while and found it to be a little too brite for night driving. so smart, thats what i'm going to do. fishbone
^ Very nice. So guys, the Prosport non-premium, just the electrical gauges, do they come with any mounting hardware? How do they look on the back, are they covered or do they have wires and such hangin' out.
TSiWRX
Update - Although I still do not recommend the AutoMeter NEXUS gauges (based on cost-effectiveness, given today's market availability), I just wanted to put in that with reflash of their latest firmware, the first-generation models (which I own, and have reported "issues" with) have become *much* more reliable, in terms of the "connection drop-outs" that I've spoken of earlier. Additionally, I've also reflashed to enable the "STi start/shut-off sequence," as a NASIOCer did for his, using his code, and must say that the start-up and shut-down sequences are now much more visually appealing than what they'd been, previously, on an aesthetic level. <-- I love Winky, my "periwinkle" (ABP) LGT! - Allen / Usual Suspect "DumboRAT" / One of the Three Stooges '16 Outback, '16 WRX, 7th Subaru Family

This is the same set that I have. It is actually labelled as an STI part (at least mine is) and is about $800/shipped. Unless you do it yourself, it's another $100 for install. Agree that it is a nice gauge set and the opening ceremony nicely matches the factory dash gauge's. My only complaint is that it is not backlit like the instrument cluster so you have to have the lights on in order for its lights to be on and you have to convert (in your mind) the pressures and temp as it's not SAE. - Pro amore Dei et patriam et populum -
Mr. Ed
i almost went this route but the gauges supplied were not what I wanted (egt/afr/boost) so I have ordered prosport gauges and I am attempting a diy guage panel in the cubby... pics to come This is the same set that I have. Siper2
My only complaint is that it is not backlit like the instrument cluster so you have to have the lights on in order for its lights to be on and you have to convert (in your mind) the pressures and temp as it's not SAE. For a second I thought you meant that it wasn't lit at ALL, even when the lights were on. Whew.... I really want to get the STi pod, love it. I had the RS Performance Gauge pack, I really liked how it was, too. (Took this when I was comparing the Kartboy and OEM shift knobs, but it got the gauges. ) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v396/Siper2/DSC02818.jpg I ended up moving it below the radio in my '00 RS (sold last Wednesday ), since I also picked up an OEM Forester compass pack to put on top. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v396/Siper2/Subaru%20Impreza/STi-V6-interior--andSnake016.jpg Anyway, yeah I like OEM gauges I guess. My issue with MOST aftermarket ones is that the fitment stinks. So I'm planning on the STi triple-gauge for my new '05 GT.
