the seats in my '91 CRX were more comfortable for long trips. :lol:

the seats shown in that mag are optional for the STI...have been for awhile, nothing new there and certainly not stock for even a JDM car (much less the one we see)

Ok, now who knows, Best Car just released ANOTHER rendering showing a different front, wheels, flares, hoodscoop, grill- ok pretty much everything. :rolleyes:

My comments:

Comparing it to the Best Car rendering, here is what I prefer:

Wheels-> Best Car

Grill-> This one

Front-> Push

Flares-> Best Car

Hoodscoop-> Best Car- unless the additional scoops provide some benefit.

Paul- maybe you could help me out with a question that I have had about the new EVO and STi.

My question is this- the last iteration of the EVO and STi made 276 and 300hp, respectively in the US market.

For the EVO X and STi hatch, I was expecting hp numbers in the 320-330 range, but it looks as though the horsepower numbers are pretty much unchanged. Are these cars still working under the gentleman's agreement in Japan which is keeping the horsepower numbers roughly the same, or are Mitsu and Suby focusing more on engine dynamics than bottom line numbers?

Japan's a funny place. Even though the unofficial official hp limit has been broken, the manufacturers are reluctant to go above it still. There's also a whole line of marketing for cars in Japan that focuses on the 280ps mark to define sports cars and sedans. People are just comfortable with the figure.

Also, I think the current gas prices and somewhat "green" mentality is making Japanese manufacturers, as a group, keep from getting into a HP war on their home turf. And finally, when it comes to Japan, handling and brakes are considered far more important than power. I see it on the aftermarket sales side - suspension and brake parts sell more than (actual) power parts in Japan, while it's the other way around in America.

Cheers,

Paul Hansen

I was about to post the same pictures as tallguy's, but he got there first. I also came across a lot of interesting looking pictures on bestmotoring.cn. I can't endorse the validity of the pictures, but they share make the impreaza a lot better looking.

& whoever designed those tail lamps needs to be slapped!!

But the overall design is really starting to grow on me. Not in stock form of coarse but once modded.....:):)

Not to mention many of the parts could be re-used on the wagon & re-using my parts would make for a very cheap 450+whp hatch:):)

We will just have to see though about ins. a STI:(:(:(

we swung by the Jeep/Subaru dealer today.....wife hated the new WRX....said it was ugly with no prompting (and she owned a yellow '03 Bugeye wagon). She did however like the new Tribeca....we'll see about a test drive soon....the FX is nice, but heavy and a bit tight on space in the back.
