stedler
I've read a lot of different threads on here about changing the turbo's on LGT's and even a few about adding Turbo's to N/A 2.5i and the Debate over how much trouble it can be for the N/A driver. I recently saw an episode of Ride's where Chevrolet approached several different custom shops to have them prepare HHR's for SEMA... one of the Entries was from Darkside Customs: see the car at this link... http://www.hhrclub.org/models/customs/darkside-custom-hhr.php They took a N/A HHR 4banger and added a turbo from Squires Turbo Systems: turbo is in this link. http://www.ststurbo.com/universal_system As the link says, its a Universal turbo... The interesting thing about it is that it can be mountaid anywhere there is room.... on the HHR they mounted it at the rear of the vehicle, near the rear bumper. they cost about $3,000. Has anyone on this forum checked these out? I've tried finding Darkside customs website but have not been successful.. Would like to know how many of these things they've installed, and in what configurations.
rao
STS turbos work just fine for what they are. On a Subaru you probably wouldn't want to use them. TV shows and real life are a little different from one another. Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT

stedler
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c315/KYLiquid/Forum%20Pictures/jeez.jpg Sorry, I'm locked inside, bored and on pain killers..... I've seen the other posts but no one mentioned STS .... Personaly... Ordering a LGT spec B sounds easier... (though not cheaper) Although, with fabrication, installation, and all the other *@$# that goes with.. who knows...
collegemt
I saw a "2 guys garage show" where they put rear mounted dual turbos under the rear bumper. The car sounded sweet when they were finished. I am sure it hauled as well. I am not sure what kind it was, i think rear mounted turbos would work fine.

meier motor sports
i saw that episode. they say lag was not an issue. but ppl who chane from top mounts to front mounts notice a difference in lag. i guarnteee you will get lag with the turbo way back there. first the exhaust gasss need to get to the turbo. then the turbo needs to spool. then it needs to build the pressure in all the pipes leading back to the engine. yeah it would be more effective then throwing money out the window. but personaly it seams like a huge joke. if you want to turbo or super charge your car, go for it. you might want to build up the internals first. not really sure how the na motor as is would respond to boost. but in reality you can supercharg or turbo charge any car. just needs to be done right. and do your home work. heck in the rc car world... they have a supercharger for the small eninges on the nitro cars. 0.18cc's and such

collegemt
I did, they did it on a C6 vette, nt a C5 like they did on 2 guys garage
collegemt
It doesn't really matter, i am sure turbo lag would be an issue, not so much with a vette, because it has power without the turbo.

meier motor sports
i think its silly. put it under the hood where it belongs! or if you must have the turbo in the trunk. put the motor back there to!!!
SLegacy99
You're better off swapping engines. A SOHC EJ25 is not ideal for a turbocharger is my understanding of it. You want some more power? Get an air intake if you don't already have one. You can also get headers and an exhaust system. Not the power of a turbo, but a noticeable improvement. My bro's Impreza was beefed up from 165 hp to 180ish doing that. It felt pretty nice and since you have the 5 speed, well you are golden.
violhence
If you really want to make a Turbo happen on this car, as I think for sure that I do someday when it is all ready, then this is the thread for you to monitor http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60648 P.S. - check out the Dyno Sheet on there
