4. Boyd Coddington/ZZTop's Cadzilla

3. 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible

2. 1957 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

Wait, you said beautiful?

A GNX is fast, but I personally don't see it as beautifyul

sorry but a 63 split window tops a 67 rag all day long..

If you're looking for production cars, the Boyd doesn't count...

I'd take a 69 rs/ss camaro over the 57 vett convertible any day...JMO

Yeah. I guess Cadzilla doesn't count - sigh.

I don't know about the early 'Vettes man. I still prefer the '67. Oh well. Art is subjective I guess. There are bound to be disagreements. I almost had 67 Camaro SS in there too but alas, the list was only for 5 cars .

The GNx is stunning in person to me. Maybe I'm biased having driven a few GNs and drooling over them back in High School.

I was debating the Cobra too but in the end, it's just not pure American. That could be argued - absolutely.

+1

The '67 stingrays are quite nice... I've gotten to hear quite a bit about them, my dad is still bitter my mom made him sell his

Make the red on the picture above green, and bam, you have his.

I almost have a hard time putting any 70s-80s American cars on a list. No doubt many of them are classics, but beautiful? Well, I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I find many of them to be simply too "blocky".

I actually saw my ultimate car at a car show, and is in my top 5, maybe my top 1.

1967 Chevrolet Corvette 427 L88. A lot has to do with the cars looks, even more with what the L88 option meant. The lady who owned it with her husband just about came to tears when she was talking about it.

There is only 1, rest pale in comparison. Ok maybe she is not really a production car but all I have to say is Eleanor. The 2000 version anyway.

I love the GT500, Eleanor in particular. However, I don't know about the pure aesthetic appeal - much the same as the GNx may have been a cult choice.

However, I must give honorable mention to this.. the 1973 Z28. Drool... drool... The engine choices sucked balls by that time, due to emission regulations and insurance boneheads, but man... what a sweet looking ride!!! Slap a 396, 427 or 454 in there and off you go!

#1 is HANDS DOWN the S7 TT.......If your opinion differs, then well, your opinion is simply wrong ;)

As for the rest, there are quite a few contenders in my book (in no specific order):

GT40 (both old and new)

Viper GTS

67 fastback vette

Ford Focus......um, no, scratch that

67/68 Firebird or Camaro

Oh, and the Cadzilla is HOTTTTTTTT, but I yea, it doesn't really count.

Pictures of cars...

Lotus Esprit - British.

Shelby Cobra - British (AC Ace) with American Engine

GT40 - British (lola race car) with an American Engine

Porsche 356 - German. Completely German.

Classic Lotus racing car - British. Unknown engine source, probably ford of europe/cosworth.

GNX - sinister, but a brick. Not pretty. Brutal maybe.

Hot Rods don't count here, they get their own category. Completely unfair to compare hand crafted one-offs with production cars.

Personally, I think the S7 is WAY over-wrought, with way too many gills and slits to be beautiful. It looks the supercar part, but not pretty. Same with the Vectors.

My list:

Five of the best looking american cars:

1965 Mustang 2+2 (or the 69-70 sportsroof Mustangs, ie Mach 1, Boss 302)

1967-69 Camaro

some various years of Corvette are much better than others. early models, Stingray, C4. C6 is ok. 70s and C5 are lower points.

Corvair Monza Coupe

DMC DeLorean. Say what you will, but it is a looker.

Honorable mention:

Cord 812

Fox Mustang was a real looker in it's day, as were the 80's Camaro and Firebird. They look a bit dated now.

Original Pontiac GTO.

68-70 Dodge Charger.

Original T-bird.

~96 Dodge Viper GTS Coupe.

Actually Unique performance does build a small production version of teh Eleanor car with Carroll SHelby's ok.....meaning they become actual Shelby numbered cars.

That being said my top 5 (sorry most will be muscle/pony cars)

1) A real (nonEleanor) 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500

2) 1969 ZL1 Camaro

3) 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertable (most people like the 71's more)

4) 1970 Boss 302 Mustang

5) 1971 Plymouth GTX

Wow. This is a good one indeed.

1955-1957 Corvette. The cove, the look, before they gave it the quad headlights. Keep your stingrays. Red w/ white cove.

1969 Pontiac GTO. No Judge please. I like the cleaner look. Similar to 68 but a better rear bumper.

1996-2002 Dodge Viper GTS. Especially the Blue w/ white stripes.

1955 Ford Thunderbird. Not the 56 with the Conti Kit, and not the 57 with the kooky bumpers & angled fins.

1959 Cadillac Eldorado - Extravagant & Over the top? Absolutely.

Jesse
