SubLo
For all those who continue to mock turbo-diesel "performance", along with the Audi R12 and the Banks Sidewinder here's another outstanding example: http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070420/FREE/70418005/1029 ________________________________________________ '05 BSM OBXT Row-your-own, W.I.P. '06 Shrek B # 64 - The car the wife loved to hate :( Sold...

jj808
I think the number of people that "mock" diesel engines these days is rapidly dwindling in numbers. Especially after what Audi is doing with their R12.

Penguin
I always wondered what a Duramax would be like in a car. I'll bet if they left it in turbo form, put a taller gear set on, and didn't pump the power as much as they did an honest 30+mpg would be easily achieved. No light truck motors in cars. Your emissions laws at work. I don't doubt diesel performance a bit; I've seen Expeditions drive to the track, go through tech and run mid 12's. What I do doubt is diesels success in the marketplace. Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT

Well, if the manufacturer wanted to certify the car to be emissions compliant it would still be cool. Of course the answer is to go out and get an old school car that has no emissions laws the pertain to it.

Wonder no more: http://bankspower.com/DmaxTypeR.cfm Well, it's not exactly a car (or truck for that matter), but a custom. Anywho, it's got a Banks tweaked Duramax. Pretty sick if you ask me. ________________________________________________ '05 BSM OBXT Row-your-own, W.I.P. '06 Shrek B # 64 - The car the wife loved to hate :( Sold...

Now if I can find an old RWD mid 90's Impala sedan or wagon, and see if I can cram in an LB7 and an Allison.

iyalla
I don't think there are many enthusiast left that doubt diesel power. Its just that we don't have a lot of them here The torque numbers some of those tiny engines in Europe are getting are insane and the torques the big diesels are getting are just nuts

Penguin
pretty cool.... until you need to refuel. Why? Diesel pumps in South Dakota land are plentiful. Just wear gloves to avoid getting the go juice on you, it is admittedly stinky.
Tommyh
pretty cool.... until you need to refuel. I havn't seen a gas station in my area that doesn't have at least one diesel pump yet.
