Whitestar Pilot
Interesting then. The GXP Solstice hasn't been out for long. I wonder what is availible for it? Like someone said already, the guy probably had a boost controller, and open exhaust. That makes a pretty big difference, even more so when you are modding a light car. Did you hear anything, like a blow-off valve or?

LawGT
So... I assume people are tuning this platform cause he was not losing... at all. hahaha... that is hilarious. there is a thread in here somewhere where yours truly and others posted dyno plots of a stock gxp. That engine is severly underrated in power. If I recall (and my memory has been faulty recently ) the dyno graph had more HP and Lbft that our LGT's. Let me look for it. ... EDIT: See here: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43187&page=2 I did recall correctly...yeay! That puts a stock gxp in what...the equivalent of a stage 1.5 LGT...but with 300 or so less pounds?> http://www.automobilemag.com/features/news/0609_c_saturn_sky_dyno.jpg

My point is I don't see a CAI and CBE making up that kind of difference. ignore him, he'll go away.

Nitro? Don't know...but it surely is interesting. If it was a stock gxp, I'm getting a used one, after it depreciat3 by 50% in 3 years...

My point is I don't see a CAI and CBE making up that kind of difference. Without running into the car again and chatting up the owner, it will be pretty hard to tell what it was running. Either way it looks like the cars have plenty of potential, so hooray for GM and consumers/enthusiasts.

collegemt
Ok, my brother-in law just bought a 2008 pontiac solctice GXP suto 3 weesk ago. I know it is a auto but all the magazines say the auto is faster due to it being much easier to launch. Car and driver said the auto was 0.2 seconds quicker in the 1/4 mile than the auto, 14.0 vs 14.2. So, he was so proud of his new car and thought it was so fast. I said lets go to the local strip and we will see which car is faster. I was actually a little scared my stage 2 08 lgt might lose. The results: Solstice: 14.8 something with a 1.5 60' LGT: 14.591 with a 2.1 60' Also this was at a elevation of 5800 ft. We didn't get to race against eachother but he time slip is all that matters to me. Here is some video. LGT: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DrO48V82Ks]YouTube - Legacy GT vs Mustang GT[/ame] on board with passenger: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzzKK8M9V-w]YouTube - 2008 legacy gt drag racing onboard[/ame] Solstice: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyylzh3OFqI]YouTube - 2008 solstice gxp auto vs evo[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCQJIUTGWIo]YouTube - 2008 pontiac solstice GXP auto drag racing[/ame] Final comments: A family sedan can beat a 2 seater sports car, doesn't that feel great!
