Recommended Posts

yea ok, i got it last night thanks. a few more questions tho.

what i was wondering. are a few things. i tried putting music onto the thing and it worked. however. is there a repeat button? once the songs in the folder end, it just stops. is there a repeat button to keep the music playing?

when i open up my pics folder, i still see my music folders. is that supposed to happen? just wondering. it does not categorize them into the tabs on the avox?

for the background pics. it said that rename it to "mybg.jpg" i could not get that to work.

Try updating the firmware 1.4.7(is current one I believe), if you have not, there is a resume and a repeat feature(to turn it on you need to hit the setup button on the remote, it is off by default)

Click here for the Firmware - http://www.vantecusa.com/agreement.php?filename=AVOX_1_4_7_EN.zip

not sure about the pics folder and music folder - but I don't think your suppose to see both.

for the background picture is has to be in the root of the drive.

hey all

when i create a playlist, is there a way i can keep it? everytime i close the avox, i lose all the songs that i put in there. i chose to put a folder full of my songs, however the only way i can play them randomly is if i put them in the playlist tab. but everytime i turn it off, i lose all the songs that i had to individually put in the playlist tab.

is there a way i can play the songs randomly under the music tab?

is there a way i can select all when moving it into the playlist? i had to move them all one by one only to have them disappear when i turned it off. that was a pain in the ass.

thanks for your help.

any updates on this?

I already picked up a RF 3.Sixty2 for my stereo plans, this would just push it over the edge. So any updates on the randomizing or saving playlists?

Is the Aux in mod necessary if I have the 3.Sixty2? I figure i could just put the video to the navi screen and the audio directly into the 3.Sixty unit and completely by pass the OEM stereo.

I just picked up the pieces for this... to the tune of $220.

Mediagate, IR Receiver, Car Charger, 100GB HD

Not bad at all. I look forward to getting this install done and taking some good pics. I'll let you know how it goes.

Arrived, installed, and loving it.

I didn't run into any issues... with the directions... I did however change it up a little and install the IR receiver in the left A/C vent so that it is hidden. besides the mess of wires I have in my center console, it looks stock... and I couldn't be happier.

Unfortunately, it was raining and night time when I was doing this, so I wasn't able to take any install pics. I will try to get some post-install ones up.

Thanks again for the excellent write-up. And for anyone hoping to do this... it's definitely easy enough to do yourself, and worth the investment. Cheers!

SpecB #133 just got a little cooler. I wired mine up underneath the front passengers seat. the console box was just to valuable to me to lose.

Thanks for the great idea!

Cheers,

Ryan

Wow this entire system was cheaper than my Zune which doesn't even have an output for video :(

Anyone with this mod have issues going between navi maps and multimedia screen? I mean, is changing playlists or folders for music a pain if you're driving and trying to use the map as well? Thanks.

How big is the IR does block any air flow

After getting inspired by this thread http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52355 .....

Also comes with component cables and outputs to HD, looks awesome.

So, you connect the drive to your computer like any external usb harddrive. You can then make folders to organize your files:

It's as simple as just putting up straight .ISOs too:

http://www.mousebox.org/lgt/avox/avox08.jpg

or put up divx, xvid, mpeg2's:

Dvds will play just like a dvd with menus and all. You can see here I'm using the Jazzy Mod and also ran an IR extension cable and stuck the receiving end above the power button:

http://www.mousebox.org/lgt/avox/avox13.jpg

You can see the 2 holes I drilled for the video cable, aux line, and IR extension cable:

http://www.mousebox.org/lgt/avox/avox15.jpg

Just enough room to fit all of the wires and the drive itself:

Any questions, feel free to shoot them my way.

Well done, I'm inspired by your setup. I have a portable Divx player sitting in my store room for a year and haven't got time to put it inside my ride.

Work just started, to minimise the messy wiring, I'm creating a docking socket for easy removal for updating of divx files.

Yea I've been wanting to do a docking socket also, just haven't gotten around to it. Post up some pix and what docking socket you used when you're done! Thanks.
