New pics of the STI

Recommended Posts

I figured I'd post an update about the car. I've been to a track day and a few autocrosses with it now. But just a few weeks ago I installed a new suspension and I haven't been to the track since then. When the autocross season starts up next year I expect the car will be a little more competitive in STU though. :)

The car now has Ohlins struts, RCE springs, RCE front camber plates, Group-N rear mounts, COBB AccessPort stage 1, and a V-limited lip spoiler.

A lot of people say that to me. It's surprising how many fans there are of the gold rims.

Would you believe this car had gold rims at the dealer but I asked them to swap it out for silver? If I were to rally this car I'd be all over the gold rims. But to me a track car needs silver, so that's what I got. ;)

Uh oh... new rims... bling bling...

And my XenonK impersonation...

Actually they're the anti-bling being matte grey. They're 17x8.5" TRMotorsports MT1's. 17.5 pounds per wheel. And they should be installed tomorrow along with 255/40-17 Falken RT615's. Mmm, grippy.

Well they're installed. And they easily clear the stock Brembo's. :) There's more room between the spokes and the calipers than the stock wheels had so I'm pleased to see that.

My brother and I went out to take some pics (that's his Z06 in most of the shots)...

Hey SilverWolf. Yeah, maybe there's some sort of natural progression from the Elantra to the Legacy that just can't be explained. I don't know.

I just realized I've done a lot since I've made any updates here. So here it goes...

My car desperately needed some brake upgrades to handle the heat of an intense track day...

1.) PowerSlot cryo-treated rotors w/ StopTech Posiquiet street pads (Pagid Blue pads standing by for track days), and ATE Super Blue brake fluid

http://www.gldomain.com/STI/Brakes/IMG_0673_800px.jpg

And then Tirerack had a good deal on these wheels and I just had to get it...

2.) 17x8.5" TRMotorsport MT1 wheels with 255/40-17 Falken RT615's...

http://www.gldomain.com/STI/2008-02-09/IMG_0725_600px.jpg

Then my car was hit by hail and I decided to take the opportunity to buy some CF replacement parts...

3.) Varis CF hood

http://www.gldomain.com/STI/Varis%20CF%20Hood/IMG_0847_600px.jpg

4.) Varis CF trunk lid

http://www.gldomain.com/STI/Varis%20CF%20Trunk%20Lid/IMG_0873_600px.jpg

And just this past weekend I installed...

5.) Recaro Speed seat

So here's the complete mod list as it stands now:

Suspension:

- Ohlins fixed perch struts

- RCE front lowering camber plates

- Group N rear strut mounts

- Whiteline 24mm rear sway bar

- Kartboy Front & Rear endlinks

Wheels & Tires:

- 17x8.5" TRMotorsports MT1 wheels (17.5 pounds each)

- 255/40-17 Falken RT615's

Brakes:

- Front PowerSlot cryo-treated rotors

- Front & Rear StopTech Posiquiet pads

Exterior:

- Varis carbon fiber hood

- Varis carbon fiber trunk lid

Interior:

- Driver's side Recaro Speed seat with Wedge Engineering Bracket/Slider

Mods ready to be installed for track days:

Looks good....and I prefer silver also :icon_mrgr

I prefer it too...

Whoa... EDIT.

I see you ditched the rear wing. Nicely done. I'd paint the CF hood and trunk and be done with it.

Actually, as ugly as it may look I'll be leaving the trunk & hood unpainted to save money.

And I'll be getting an APR GTC-200 wing like you see on this car...

The car sees some action at the track so most of my mods are done with the intention of becoming faster. And as you can imagine it gets expensive if you're picky about looks too. I wouldn't say I've given up on the looks department, but I'm certainly not as picky as I once was. ;)
