MacLGT-B
Just wondering what aftermarket jack are people keeping in their cars. I went to use mine today and the thing fell apart. Also , need to keep a floor jack in the garage, what you guys recommend? Got Links?
psucaptainkickass
I got this one: http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?cat=Tools+%26+Equipment&pid=00950240000&vertical=AUTO&subcat=Lift+Equipment&BV_UseBVCookie=Yes It is low enough to get the rear dif (my car is lowered). However, I need some 2x4s to get to the front jack point. That isn't entirely too unexpected since the front jack point is pretty far back. I have had no problems with this jack. It looks identical to Big Red Torin jack I got elsewhere. I believe PGT also got it and hated it. Craaaaap! Avoid. Broke 3rd time I used it. Does not allow for slow lowering - it's almost dangerous to use. Instead, I just got a vanilla Crafstman crapo jack. Works far better.
meier motor sports
the 1.5 ton one is a fairly universil one. meaning you can get the same thing at lots of places. the 4 ton aluminum one is pretty darn nice. and the standard heavy as hell floor jackls work well
johnAWD
I've got a floorjack which I use when in the garage. If I ever have to use the stock "jacK" I'll probably cry...

meier motor sports
the stock jack should be just perfect for the road side emergancy in which it is designed to be used

Also , need to keep a floor jack in the garage, what you guys recommend? Got Links? I notice you also list an FXT as one of your cars. I have a cheapo trolley jack and it fails to lift my OB high enough to remove a tire. I had to use the stock jack and actually found it smooth, fast, and with high enough lift. MacLGT-B
Had to use the FXT Jack to get me out of a jam with the LGT Jack which worked just fine, lucky I was in my garage and not on the road. The mechanical part of the stock jack failed to bring the car down, don't know why it just fell apart. Maybe I can get it replaced under warrenty. I guess I'll keep the FXT Jack in the LGT and get this one for the FXT... http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product/s-10101/Pr-p_Product.CATENTRY_ID:2011467/p-2011467/N-111+10201+600002511/c-10101/TID-0620

I never liked the trolley jack I had because when it lifted and lowered, the arm swung in an arc and I always felt that it was moving the car too much (especially the cheap one I had with its short arm). Good find.

Well this isn't the Big Red Torin one (I've seen that one), its a Craftsman, and it is definitely Craftsman quality.
Guest
"Craftsman quality" sounds bit like an oxymoron to me, but if you say so...
psucaptainkickass
Well, I have had nothing but good experience with Craftsman products. <shrugs shoulders>
STG
I bought obe of these low profile aluminum jacks from Harbor Freight. Note the metal roller instead of wheels on the front. It is a great, lightweight jack. I've been using it on my Legacy and 2004 Mach1 with aftermarket suspension and welded sun frame connectors (really need the low profile for that) with absolutely no problems. Can't be beat for $79, especially since I've seen identical looking jacks on Snap-On trucks for well over $200. It weighs 24.2 lbs. and only needs 3" of clearance. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/photos/91000-91099/91039.gif http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=91039
Guest
^ This looks exactly like the Torin crapola I bought. Also blue. Also the roller in front.
STG
^ This looks exactly like the Torin crapola I bought. Also blue. Also the roller in front. I've used mine extensively over the last 18 months. So far, no crapola! I bought one on the recommendation of a friend who owns a high-end speed shop. He's been using his every day for years. I looked up Torin jacks and found a model that looks similar, is red, with specs that include a minimum saddle height of 3.5 inches, not three inches like mine. Don't think they are the same jack. Paradiso
I've got this one: http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=TOOL&pid=00950239000&cat=Mechanics+Tools&subcat=Lift+Equipment\ No regrets. Garandman
Sears puts a lot of their jacks on sale regularly. I bought a steel one - heavy but they hold up for years. If I was still racing I'd get an aluminum one. The stock jack seems to work a lot better if you grease it well. Who Dares Wins スバル

Claw
I bought a $49 CDN two tonne jack from Wal-Mart. Piece of crap, it lowers the car so fast, almost like there wasn't anything there.
Garandman
From an old thread - http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29532. I bought Sears Sears item #00950186000 Mfr. model #34949 3 ton steel floor jack. On sale for $60, it was either $99 or $109 normally. We use it for five vehicles at work - so far, so good. http://s7.sears.com/is/image/Sears/00950186000?layer=comp&wid=190&hei=190&fmt=jpeg&qlt=75,0&op_sharpen=0&resMode=norm&op_usm=0.5,1.0,0.0,0 Who Dares Wins スバル
lhsa
if you have a costco membership, i recommend their arcan floor jack. bought one 6 months ago for ~100 and i'm using it regularly. my car is super low, but i can get the rear diff from the back, which clears the front jack point after its up. its pretty heavy duty and, best of all, it has costco's lifetime guarantee. if its crap, just bring it back! can't beat that:icon_wink
