Anyone compared the g35 against the Legacy gt, or gt spec b?

What about MY05 automatic G35 putting down 215hp/213tq ?

05 rating changed to 280hp/270tq.

If the numbers are not inflated than my only explanation for IS350 is that it has vastly superior RWD drivetrain with only 10-11% loss. And that is on an automatic.

One more thing. At the same dyno day we had e36 M3 3.2 with a stick.

It was putting down 210/211. Given that this car had an aftermarket exhaust, that is a pretty good number for something that was rated 240/236 at the crank.

One of the things I discovered when looking at buying an 04 M45 was that there are some complaints of serious oil consumption. On various forums is was felt that the 4.5 liter engine was "loosened up" to allow it to rev more freely to get at the 340 hp sooner.

Drivetrain loss for the majority of RWD vehicles is 10-12%;)

Exactly !!!

Not 18-22% as observed on 03-06 VQ35 powered cars. I doubt that all Nissan trannys are so inefficient. Hence my personal belief that factory HP rating is farfetched to say the least.

Last example, 04 G35 sedan 6mt pulled 2hp at the wheels more than 04 350z 6MT.

First car is rated 260hp, second 287hp.

Every car and dyno will give you slightly different results but there is no way a RWD car has drivetrain loss of only 10-12%. A FWD will be lucky to get 10-12%.

A stock SE-R Spec V dynos at 146 whp and is rated at 175 hp that's a 16.6% loss for a FWD.

A stock TSX dyno at 178 whp and rated at 205 hp that's 13.2% loss for another FWD.

'95 Miata dyno at 97 hp rated at 128 hp, that's 24.2% loss. '99 Miata dyno at 112 whp & 117 whp rated at 140 hp, that's 16% loss for the 49 state and 20% loss for Cali emission. RWD.

Stock Nissan 300ZX NA dyno at 180 whp rated at 222 hp, 18.9% loss. RWD.

'05 Ford Mustang dyno at 251 whp rated at 300 hp, that's 16.3% loss. RWD.

My choices was RX-8, G35 coupe, EVO MR, and LGT.

RX-8 =no low-end power not much room.

EVO= Great power but too hyper.

G35= nice but I see too many out here in socal

I go the LGT because with a few modds I knew it could be the car I wanted. I got a 5mt '05 ltm wagon. I added whiteline F&R adj. swaybars($300 for both) got rid of the roll at keep a nice ride. H-tech springs 1" ($170) to control dive and squat. And the AP with TDC etune for $665(40hp+).Now I can easily out run all of the other car and hang with them in the turns. All in a station wagon and for $1000 in modds:icon_bigg .

i actually just did this comparison.. lgt vs g35x.

-both cars have a lot of power, but they come on in different ways. in the g35 power delivery is very smooth. so much so that is was not that fun to drive, whereas in the lgt you have a satisfying boost when the turbo comes on. overall i did not find that the g35 had that much more power, as the numbers might suggest

-g35 also did not handle quite as well as lgt in the twisties, or the mud (on my lgt test drive the salesman took me on a somewhat off-roady course through mud and rocks, and i was very impressed. i asked if i could do that with the inifiniti guy and he only wanted to stay on his test drive course)

-as far as looks, i think both are both are good looking cars from the exterior, with a slight edge to the g35. but the lgt has hands-down the better interior.

-one of the things that annoyed me most about the g35 was the exhaust noise. it is a very quiet car on the road besides this. but just trying to accelerate to 60mph, all i heard was the exhaust, which is not a plus in my book.

throw all this in with the $3k price difference and i decided to get the lgt (although i think i might have decided on the lgt even if they were the same price). one last plus for the lgt is the exclusivity...especially since i bought an 07 DGM. i have yet to see another one on the road.

:icon_bigg Sure you can...

...just not in North America. :icon_mad:

Actually, when the G35 was first announced, I did see that a wagon version existed, but waited fruitlessly for it to be brought here. Not that it would have been worth it, since it turns out to be rather hideous.

I guess the FX is, ultimately a G35 wagon. I much rather my Outback XT. :)
