Subaru you can do anything you want but PLEASE REMOVE THE SEAT FRONT!!!

The new Impreza and B9 front looks like a crappy Seat from Spain. Seat is #%&!!¤##! -cars and Subaru will ruin their Europe sales if they look like it.

Would Toyota design their front like Fiat or Lada? don't think so....

Who from Seat has infiltrated Subarus design team and druged them?

maby this post would be better in the WTF ! section...

uh i hope you guys know that seat is VW made in Spain.

and the designer from alfa romeo is the chief designer for subaru right now, and if i am not mistaken he used to work for VW too. his name escapes me now

I wish they would do something cleaner than the current B9 and impreza, or even the B11S (uggo). It would be ok, if they did something that looked as cool as, say the Alfa 8C Competizione, which has the three openings right up front.

Not just an upper grille gimmick, but a whole cohesive design that actually looks decent.

Maybe that is too much to ask, though. and if all it can be is an upper grille gimmick, then, by all means, get rid of it.

I have a feeling that the new impreza 3-door will have some cues from the B5-TPH concept, probably in the B-pillar shape (like old subaru, IIRC: DL coupe... I forget the name...) other than that, and the raked hatchback angle, I hope they ditch most of the front and rear aspects of the B5-TPH. it looked like a suppository.

The five door will probably just be a translation of the three door. A similar transition as the three to five door ford focus, by just cutting up the side aspect to add more doors.

I would think that if they were to release a two door impreza, it would look something like the Prodrive P2. or the B11s Concept (this pic from 2003)
Wrong concept. How about the more recent B9 SC? Click on a picture to get to the high-res version:

This car looks so happy.

Some tweaks to the B9 Scrambler might generate a decent looking car, but not a convertible like that. it is too flat at the belt line, and the windsheild is completely unfeasable, and too upright.

The curves in the body look somewhat good, aside from the overly rigid belt line, the grillework looks too overbitten (alfa 8c is not overbitten) and too rounded. and rather than radiusing the "wing tips" down, they should have made them knife-edged vertical, or something to emulate wings of a fighter jet, or something.

A fastback GT coupe with a few of these curves could look good. the two-tone paint is not good, though. the spike behind the rear edge of the door isn't purposeful, and the paint line descends from the body line, like women who wear too much lipstick to make their lips look bigger. It would have been better if the body line descended as well, and looked more rakish, rather than horizontal.

The front end isn't as bad, though. The three grille wing motif is the main thing, centered on the front of the car, with two small intakes below. That is better than relegating it to a smaller aspect above the bumper line. I really like the arch of the hood down from the windsheild down to the top edge of the grille.

It needs something a litttle different with headlights, more triangular like B9 tribeca, but agressively detailed, like Legacy GT.

The wing grilles, instead of raking back at the bottom, should be much closer to vertical. Under the three main grille elements, if the bumper cover raked back toward the bottom, reversing at the bottom in a lower airdam lip. Much like the airdam on the Alfa 8c.

But the B9 scrambler is a bit closer than the B11S, or even the benign tribeca currently are, both of which look underbitten.

But what I want to know, is how did Subaru push the front wheels so far forward, and use such low offset wheels, and keep AWD? or did they? is this RWD only?

The concept was indeed AWD (it was also a gas-electric hybrid using Subaru's SSHEV system). The front overhang is short but not quite as short as it appears in some pictures.

Back when the concept came out there was a lot of speculation about how they managed to push the wheels as far as they did. Supposedly Subaru used a new CV joint design that allowed the wheels to be placed farther forward in the vehicle than usual. Some people thought that Subaru may have used two smaller radiators in the corners of the car rather than one large radiator in the center to make even more room.

Subaru’s new Impreza could possibly come in a hatchback only form to compete with other hatches such as the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus. Following a trend set by the Subaru B5-TPH concept car, which blends styling influences from an SUV with those of a hatch, the new Impreza is sure to prove controversial when it makes its appearance at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show.

The new car’s design will allow for both three and five door variants and will still include potent WRX and STi versions. The familiar four-cylinder boxer engine will carry over but with some significant revisions to meet the latest emission standards in Japan. Power for the base model Impreza will be 170hp (123kW) and will top out at 300hp (224kW) for the high-performance STi version. A first for the model will be a four-cylinder turbodiesel engine for the European market. All cars will carry AWD running gear as standard.

This design concept is in stark contrast to the Impreza’s main rival, the Mitsubishi Lancer which will retain its familiar sedan shape. How will this pan out for Subaru? Only time will tell.

The new Subaru Impreza due in 12 months time will come in 2 different body styles. There will be the regular four-door saloon plus a newly designed hatch version with styling that’s heavily influenced by the B5 concept car, first displayed at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show. This hatch version may spawn a two-door sports car and could also form the basis for the next STi version of the WRX.

The move to a hatch was to attract potential buyers in Europe, where Subaru still only achieves limited success. The new car will compete with the Euro hot–hatches such as Volkswagen’s Golf GTi and the sporty Alfa 147s. The Subaru will continue to use a symmetrical AWD system and the boxer 4-cylinder engine. A display model that’s much closer to the production version is likely to make an appearance at next years’ Geneva Motorshow.
