SubieSteve
An idiot at work saw I had the forum up on my screen, and began ranting about how his wife's 1988 Porsche 944 would blow the doors off my stock '05 LGT!!! Any suggestions?

PeterJMC
So is it the 944... Turbo, S, Turbo Cup, or Turbo S? http://www.flat-6.net/forum/showcargroup.php?do=model&cat=
SWortham
Is it modified? The turbo model is quick, but not blowing doors off of LGT's kind of quick. Make him prove it at the track.
SubieSteve
Ask him why his wife drives the "fast" car? Honestly, I don't think he can fit in it! He drives an old conversion van. Maybe I'll have my fiance race his wife!
SubieSteve
I don't think it's turbo, at least he didn't mention it.

rc0032
Right now we have a motorsports conversation and this thread is moved. If it does come down to a competition of speed use a track not the street
HansGT
show him a Road and Track with the B-spec running a 5.1 to 60 and a 13.7 1/4 mile. That should shut him up....unless it's a turbo.
John M
Turbo Porsches didn't run faster than 14s thoughout the 80s - I wouldn't be scared even then.
SBT
Depends how much his 944 has been modded. I have a colleague at work that tracks his daily-driven 944 and it very quick (at least on par with a stock LGT) and handles exceptionally well. Doubt I'd be able to make the "only in a straight line" comparision with his 944. SBT - Pro amore Dei et patriam et populum -

Garandman
Go to a track day. They are very, very expensive to maintain. the odds that it could circle a track are about nil. "To finish first - first you gotta finish." Who Dares Wins スバル
chucktoo
I had an '86 944 Tubro that was stoked to 2.9l and ran a big Garrett turbo - it made 380 whp with 17 psi of boost. I was a lot of fun but very expnsive to maintain - Porsche parts are crazy expensive. Fast but hard to drive - the turbo came on like an afterburner - engine managment was stone age then.
