An idiot at work saw I had the forum up on my screen, and began ranting about how his wife's 1988 Porsche 944 would blow the doors off my stock '05 LGT!!!

Any suggestions?

Just one. Eat his lunch, and after doing so, take his milk money. :)

Depends how much his 944 has been modded. I have a colleague at work that tracks his daily-driven 944 and it very quick (at least on par with a stock LGT) and handles exceptionally well. Doubt I'd be able to make the "only in a straight line" comparision with his 944.

I had an '86 944 Tubro that was stoked to 2.9l and ran a big Garrett turbo - it made 380 whp with 17 psi of boost.

I was a lot of fun but very expnsive to maintain - Porsche parts are crazy expensive.

Fast but hard to drive - the turbo came on like an afterburner - engine managment was stone age then.
