sure.

if you want to drive a souless unappealing everycar without AWD that looks the same as the 4 cyl version every secretary on the road is driving. ////

it may have a decent amount of power, but to me it looks like a refrigerator.

Exactly. That's why we bought an 05 Accord V6 w/auto as a company car. Police take very little notice of Accords because most of them are 4's. They're too busy ticketing young males in cars with hood scoops. We average 26-30 mpg on regular. We bought a set of Acura OEM rims for the snows nearly new on eBay for $245 - for four. Every conveivable aftermarket part is available, and someone has already tried what you're thinking about doing.

We have a number of company cars and elected to go with Garmin portable GPS's. First, you can use them in rentals or on trips with others, when you're most likely to need them. Second, they mount on the dashboard, more in your line of sight. Third, the rate of technologiy advance is very rapid and we're already on our second generation (from 2610 to 2720) in less than a year.

My GPS has travelled in nine different cars in the last six months. Getting into a rental and going precisely to your destination - and returning to the rental counter on time - is a Good Thing.
