dustinsonger
Mainly curious if anyone's still here and if there is anyone in the tucson area that can introduce me to any part of the car scene haha. I don't know how to find car friends haha. on the car i guess if none of the old guard is still here, the basics i guess. i can go into more detail if anyone cares. link g4x ecu, built motor, pretty much all the suspension goodies, terrible turbo that makes fun noises at uselessly high rpm's and last year blew a cylinder wall out when i lost boost control, 295's at all 4 corners on cheap xxr's, hilarious stereo system i built for it
tysparks81
How hard was it to wire up the link ecu? anything that is not working like OEM with the addition of link to the car? #LGTSTi is still cheaper and nicer then an equal year wrxsti Follow my 2007 Spec B. dustinsonger
so firstly, don't take any of this as gospel since I've changed so much stuff over the years on this car that i cant remember everything I've even done to it. Secondly, i had already swapped the ecu, biu, cluster, and modified an entire chassis, dash, and engine harness from an 07 Spec-B into the car (long story but i had a bunch of corrosion in the harness and it wiped out the stock stuff) With that said, after comparing the entire pinout of the ecu i had to the wrxlink v11 plug-in ecu and the go ahead from my tuner (getadomtune has been my tuner since day 1 so I wasn't confirming it just with a random tuner) i decided it was worth a shot over the accessport, especially since i did the standalone around the time that cobb disabled the functionality to deal with car that had deleted tumbler valves and whatnot. the ecu has been great in the car though, some weirdness with the preturbo o2 sensor but considering it was all over the air tuning with me not having access to a dyno and i drove the car almost 2000 miles from a legit blizzard to the heat of arizona and got 26mpg and had zero problems with the electronics id say it worked great

BoozeRS05
Well that’s certainly one of a kind… 2 EB's Subaru journal - 2005 LegacyGT Wagon & 2014 Forester FB25 (2008 specB - RIP) IG@legacygtliving
KZJonny
I want to go for a ride in that car. I bet it is madness. Seconding @tysparks81 question about what does/does not function with the Link 4. Specifically, were you able to feed info to the dash to maintain stock function? It is looking increasingly like a standalone is about the last remaining option if you want/have/need emissions deletes. I will consider this further over time if my car progresses much past where is currently is build-wise, but I *really* do not want to/will not give up dash functionality in something I drive so much.
dustinsonger
@BoozeRS05 haha yeah, next to needing an outlet car to modify instead of my mr2 or lexus rc that's one of the main goals. @KZJonny yes the factory gauges work just fine, the g4x is canbus so it can access that stuff, it can even trigger my cel with its own errors. That being said, in trying to get the pre-turbo o2 sensor to feed into the ecu as well as my wideband we did manage to try some settings that made the fuel gauge and temp gauge not work so we gave up on trying to get that to work. Temp and fuel is much more important to me than an almost useless narrow band o2 sensor haha Edited March 21 by dustinsonger 1
KZJonny
Very good to know. I don’t currently have a wideband that feeds info to the ECU. No available I/Os…. Something to think about. Thanks dude!
dustinsonger
Well technically you can use any 5v signal input (like tgv or air pump etc) and an access port to feed a signal from something like a Ballenger afr500 wideband sensor into the stock setup, that's how I had done it for years, but yeah it's getting hard to resist the temptation of a standalone nowadays. I would first check your stock ecu part number and compare it against the link and see if its even worth thinking about before you get too excited Edited March 21 by dustinsonger
KZJonny
No longer possible to do either of those things…. TGV and air pump deletes are off the table, so no available 5v I/Os and longer, hence the interest in a standalone. I’ll do some digging on both ends tho. Just good to know that someone has a relatively fully functional stock dash on a Link ECU.
dustinsonger
Omg I forgot about that, its hilarious how the epa is attacking tuners instead of cruise ship company's and etc... well here's proof from the first key turn with the link if you need more reasons to think about it. https://www.instagram.com/tv/CmCx95UAyRM/?igsh=MTUzejVzcWl4YXVweA==
