just rolled into the shop

I love it when people do their own tricks, they were told by another shop they needed a new steering rack. sharp eyed folk will see one of the links is not tight. I really dont think these cars enjoy being lifted, especially when they have eye sight.

I do not know what other years of Subarus look like from the bottom. It's clearly familiar, but is that 5th Gen? Or whatever you'd call 2010+....

And yeah... those jam nuts look plenty loose... 😬

I like the idea of other 'just rolled in' pics. I am not a technician and don't work in the automotive industry in any way, but usually do have a constant stream of cars dropping by for help or a little work throughout the summer. I've seen some interesting "make it work" fixes along the way. I'd post up anything I see that gives me goosebumps, hah!

Yo dawg, we heard you like oil coolers so we put an oil cooler on your oil cooler.  Does this thing even work? the oil would go through to the cooler, and back into the factory 'warmer'...

Is this brake setup actually an upgrade?  The pads are so small that it is basically using the same amount of rotor surface as the rear brakes..

I’ll try to get a photo of the chunks of wood that are the core supports for the rad in my Datsun.

They’re still there of course, ah…. Coz they work? But that is certainly not the point.

When I was at the dealer I saw a handful of cars getting their first services way too late. The two notable ones I can remember were at 17k and 24k.  This 19 Impreza takes the cake at 48k. Factory oil filter with paint mark, and painted drain plug gasket with no witness marks on the bolt.  Customer complaint was engine is rumbling.  Piece of shit Subaru's can't even make it to 50k before needing to replace the engine. This 4.7 quart system needed 3 quarts to get back to the full dot on the stick... surprisingly no leaks... but I suppose it needs to have oil to leak oil

It's truly sad what people expect out of their cars.  I'm sure this last one would tell you "I bought that car new.  It should be a really good car" except he bought it new about 3 YEARS AGO!  I've seen V8's with the entire intake tray filled literally with charcoal (burned up hardened chunks of oil) in so thick, you had to use a scraper and a hammer to knock it all out, and the complaint?  " The engine is making a ticking noise and I don't know why".

Most people should not have the privilege of driving, because of the abuse of the cars (which is completely amazing there aren't more crashes from failures in braking and suspension systems) and because they simply are too stupid to be on the road in a 3000 pound gasoline filled bomb around all of the other morons doing the same thing.

Unfortunately not comfortable doing that but I think anyone can pull that oil cap off and know to walk away

This is a work related thing, so I guess that makes a lot of sense for reasons.

I suppose a person that stupid wouldn't have the know how to clean up the visible areas with some carbon cleaner and make it look okay before selling. Also not a forum for Imprezas, so kinda who cares? Hopefully nobody buys that car with that engine still in it.
