Eugene Onegin
I remember getting a letter from Subaru stating that the CVT transmission guarantee has been extended to 100,000 miles or ten years ( can't find my copy ) but if you change the fluid the guarantee would be cancelled ,is this true ? I have a 2017 Legacy flat six .
AVGxp
I can't find anything about what would void the warranty, but best bet is to just give SOA a call and get it directly from the source.

silverton
According to the Normal Service Table: Fluid - CVT Inspect CVT fluid. When the vehicle is frequently operated under severe driving conditions, CVT fluid replacement (if applicable) should be performed every 24,855 miles (40,000 km). The only note for examples of severe driving conditions for the CVT is repeated towing, otherwise it's only ever Inspected.
motorbreath
I think it's prudent to get the CVT fluid flushed roughly every 60k. Its stupid-expensive at the dealer and, at least for me, quite difficult to do yourself, but after seeing the condition of the fluid that came out of my old Outback at 60k I highly doubt that it is a lifetime fluid. m sprank
It is not a lfetime fluid. That was part of Subarus issue with the cvt's.
motorbreath
It might just be a dealer issue then, my dealer here in Waterloo recommends it regularly, but a few dealers my family deals with down south say that it does not need to be changed...ever. BoozeRS05
My local dealership charges a flat fee of $200 for cvt service. Had it serviced last year and I’ll get it done again around 200k miles, at 176k miles now.
