In cold and especially humid cold weather, I always seem to have the biggest vapor cloud billowing behind me?

Recommended Posts

Is it just me?   I have thought it might be a head gasket at one point because it was a heck lot of cloudage around me...   I haven't noticed if other Legacy's are producing the same volume... I do notice that some makes produce nothing visible..  Usually something like a Honda CRV or random Toyota..  And then there is me and i literally look like Sanford and Son or something.  Could it be something to do with the boxer engine and the exhaust being at a higher temperature?   Or could being the H6 model produce more volume ?   Anyone else notice anything similar?

If it doesn't have a smell, and your fluids don't get low between services, I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you don't already it would help to let the car warm up for 4-5 minutes before starting your journey.

All cars will put out vapor on cold start up until the exhaust system warms up. It has to do with temp and humidity.

I started my 86 F150 yesterday for the first time in a week, 36F and light rain, it blew lots of vapor, until it warmed up. I had to start the 09 Spec B for the first time since last weekend, it also blew out vapor.
