hamyscj
Is it recommended to put any type of sealant on the head gasket? High tack or anything of the sort? New short block, OEM gaskets and rebuilt cylinder heads. Thanks! Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
awfulwaffle
Some guys will apply copper spray. Most of the old guys in machine shops I've visited have recommended it, and one Subaru master tech has mentioned that he does it on some builds. I've seen it on a motor I pulled apart for someone as well. I've personally never coated a head gasket and haven't had an issue.
Infosecdad
I've never used any in the five times I did it, doesn't mean I shouldn't have, but no issues from any of them.

silverton
I've done dozens of HG jobs, I used to use a copper spray but stopped. The best thing you can do for a HG is buy high quality MLS.
hamyscj
I used OEM gaskets. Hopefully that's high enough quality...[emoji1696] Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk
Max Capacity
I believe the OEM for turbo engines is a MLS, that's why they use them on NA motors when they replace HG's. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Engine Build - Click Here
