a tactrix with a data chip will pull all the obd2 data . About 20 data at the max data rate is possible. Enough to get temps, speed, throttle position.

Engine works better st a given oil temp, i forgot the number but 175 seems low.

If you have a screen grab for how all of the info is put out, will you text it to me? I may entertain getting the cable and saving myself some time. I've thought about getting one for some time now anyway.

I recognize, from the volume of reading I've done the last several months, that 175F° might not be the oil temp the engine operates most efficiently at (I also don't know what that number is), so I put the time in to make a block off plate, and will retain it until ambient temps warrant its removal. Thank you @Enlight for providing more info.

I got a little nervous when oil temps got up to 260°F and quickly began a cool-down. I had been experiencing temps between 230 – 250°F all month in the heat of summer, all around the country (WA, ID, UT, CO, NM, TX, LA, MS, AL, GA, TN, NC), on both conventional 5W-30 and Pennzoil's Ultra Platinum full synthetic.

How do you like Pennzoil Ultra Platinum? I have an IAG block and they recommend Motul 8100 X-cess 5w-40, but PUP has great reviews at less than half the price.

I'll have to get back to you with a better answer. From memory, it held its own through its properties against some of the other leading full synthetics, and was available off the shelf, albeit, I seem to only find them at Advanced Autos locally. It was between this or an Amsoil subscription, but the PUP checks the boxes for me.

For now, I have had about 5 samples of PUP taken by Blackstone Labs with roughly 1750mi on each sample. All samples were taken before the oil cooler was installed, and all samples have one AutoX per sample, and lots of spirited driving per sample. I'll post up the previous sample info after New Years.

Unfortunately, since I have the oil cooler installed now, I feel as though I need to baseline the data again. I'll have just over 2500mi on the next sample, having used an oil cooler over all of those miles. I will post that data when I receive it.

Would love to compare UOA's, I'm posting mine up in my build thread as well. I'm currently still on Motul 10w40 Break-in Oil but will be switching to 8100 X-cess 5w-40 at the next change. I'm on an IAG Stage 2 Tuff block.

FWIW, I've done two UOA with Blackstone with 3700 miles and a smidge under 5K on each, one was pure Rotella 5W-40 and the other a mix of Rotella (leftover) and the free 5W-40 VW OEM oil I get from work. Both showed nothing really off and they said I could go longer.

With modern synthetic oil, I think the brand of oil doesn't matter much these days. I get free oil, so I ain't beating that, but you'd probably be fine with whatever the cheapest 5W-40 is for these cars in their age.

I promise, I have not forgotten about this. The car has been parked since the first week of January. I'm changing the oil (2600mi on it, all with the cooler) a little later today, and boxing the sample up for Blackstone during then.

Unfortunately, I have not had the time or mileage to log oil temps with the cooler, the way I originally wanted to —let alone at all.

Time to start chipping away. Mostly maintenance items, but there's some long-desired, fun stuff in there too.

Pictured Above:

- OEM Exedy clutch/FW

- Whiteline Ball joints

- Whiteline rear diff & diff cradle bushings

- RSB reinforcement mounting brackets and bushings (black)

- MOOG endlinks in all four corners

- 2x DBA T3 4000 (LGT)

- 2x Centric Premium blank rotors (LGT)

- PMu HC+ pads for the front

- Goodridge Speedbleeders

- DAMD flat-bottom (red stitching) steering wheel

- Prosport dead pedal

- 2x Mach V 3mm wheel spacers

- 2x Mach V 5mm wheel spacers

- 2x Perrin 7mm wheel spacers

- 2x H&R 15mm wheel spacers

- HKS serpentine belts

- HKS radiator cap

Not Pictured Above, but ordered:

- OEM caliper seal kits

- OBP (32J) G2 Caliper paint

- Redline goods shift boot/handbrake boot to match the wheel

I'm still hunting for some PMu B Spec pads for the rear. I had to cancel an order because they were on backorder. The time for waiting for months on end has passed, and I'm looking for something now. I really don't want to settle.

We're back! Ooh, chicken sounds nice. Let's plan for mid-late June. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of white space on my calendar. What little I do, I need to focus on servicing the car.

Started the grind on Thursday. New seat assembled and installed Thursday. Went up to 425 Motorsports to browse last March, and made it happen last week. It was my grail seat, a Recaro Pole Position Classic in the ABE trim. I wanted something you wouldn't notice unless you looked inside of the car. I only wanted a driver's seat, and I wanted black leather. I'm not exhausting myself or taking away from the drive just to stay seated now. Paired that with a new DAMD wheel, and Redline boots to match.

Bonus: I've managed to catch the Recaro emblem peaking as the sun poured into the car's cabin twice now, and it's beautiful!

*more pics coming soon*

70K miles of hard usage in/around the mountains has provided great learning points on my former brake setup:

LGT brake swap with Centric blanks in all four corners, Project Mu B Spec pads up front, basic Akebono pads from O'Reilly's in the rear. Mach V braided steel lines all around. And ATE Typ 200 fluid.

Friday night all through Saturday night was spent giving attention to the new setup and more:

Changes include DBA 4000 series rotors up front (love the kangaroo paw slotted look), Project Mu HC+ pads in the front, and Porterfield RS-4 pads in the rear. Switching over to Motul products in the MC this year.

New Moog inner tie rods show a little more adjustment room with a few more threads than the old ones, and some new fluid journaling on the inner side. Replaced old/worn WL ball joints with new ones. The outer tie rods felt new still.

I also rolled the fenders with an Eastwood fender roller, heat gun, and IR temp gun. 180°-200°F, patience, and deliberacy are key.

15mm of spacer all around took my +51 offset Prodives, and pushed them out nicely, and safely.
