roscorx8
Hello all, so last week I was driving my car up a Colorado pass and all of a sudden the car just seized up and shut off, complete loss of power. Haven't been able to restart. Engine cranks over but is not firing. Coolant level is fine, oil looks good, timing belt and water pump replaced last year. Any good ideas where to start before taking to dealer? Any and all options are appreciated. Thanks!
Max Capacity
I'll assume there are no CEL ? Make sure all electrical connectors are tight, take them apart and re-connect them. Is the MAF sensor clean ? Pull the timing belt covers and make sure the timing is good. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Engine Build - Click Here
L30R
Does your fuel pump prime as usual when trying to start the motor? I had a fuel pump crap out on me a few months ago and left me stranded. Bad fuel pump coupled with a bad MAF sensor

SonoftheBread
Definitely check the timing. I had the same thing happen to me and it was because an idler seized and the crank pulley sheared off all the teeth on the belt. Boom, new engine time. Big thanks to the cheap timing kit the previous owner used...
azm613
I would check any codes (it present) from there my first thought would be fuel pump. It cranks just fine, so timing should be okay. (Wouldn’t hurt to double check though) from there you can narrow it down. As you probably know, motors need air fuel and spark to run, while there can be other things, it is probably a lack of fuel causing your issue. I had the same thing happen to one or my vehicles. Cheers!

roscorx8
Was able to get it started, rod is knocking bad. Not too cost effective to rebuild. Thanks, for the info though.
