'05 Legacy Gt - car shut off on highway

Recommended Posts

Hello all, so last week I was driving my car up a Colorado pass and all of a sudden the car just seized up and shut off, complete loss of power. Haven't been able to restart. Engine cranks over but is not firing. Coolant level is fine, oil looks good, timing belt and water pump replaced last year. Any good ideas where to start before taking to dealer? Any and all options are appreciated. Thanks!

I'll assume there are no CEL ?

Make sure all electrical connectors are tight, take them apart and re-connect them.

Is the MAF sensor clean ?

Pull the timing belt covers and make sure the timing is good.

I would check any codes (it present) from there my first thought would be fuel pump. It cranks just fine, so timing should be okay. (Wouldn’t hurt to double check though) from there you can narrow it down. As you probably know, motors need air fuel and spark to run, while there can be other things, it is probably a lack of fuel causing your issue. I had the same thing happen to one or my vehicles. Cheers!
