djd775
Does anyone know if there is a good place on the drivers side of the 2005 Legacy to pass a 4awg wire through?
finse
+ 1 In my 01BE, There was a cork I used to pass the amp power line through the firewall. I need to find a similar cork in the LGT. Anyone have an idea? Pics even? Cheers, Ryan
mwiener2
take apart the fender well. There is a huge rubber gromet in the top rear of the well behind all the plastic. I was able to remove the mud guard and as many screws as I could then pull the plastic back enough to give me room to work. I know there is a picture of this location posted around here somewhere....that's how i found it. djd775
That hole sounds like what I'm looking for. All I have to do now is locate a picture. I'll have to do some more searching of this forum.
Boulderguy
Not sure if you've got the same holes, but in my OB there is a large blank grommet, diamond-shaped & about 2" square just inside the firewall from the shock tire (about 18" over, maybe 12" down from the top). It came out right by the gas pedal, was very easy to get 4g thru.
djd775
Thanks Guys. I looked near the gas pedal and I didn't see a grommet to feed the wire through on the sedan. On a good note I found some pics of the fender well grommet and I'll be using it to route my wire.

Boulderguy
For some reason certain cars don't have that blank grommet. I got lucky there too.

djd775
I checked that spot in my car and there is no grommet there. I'm one of the unlucky ones without the grommet!

finse
Just checked my car. No love.. It looks like my brake fluid reservoir is mounted where this particular grommet is located.
djd775
Maybe it's only automatics that have this space blank. Thats where the clutch master cylinder is in my car now that I think about it.
PGT
from Manville Smith's thread about his install (look for the yellow). He has a 5sp LGT: http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/3154/pwirefirewall0nk.jpg
djd775
I think that picture shows the cable going through the passenger side near the grommet for the ECU and not on the drivers side where the master cylinder would be.
PGT
I think that picture shows the cable going through the passenger side near the grommet for the ECU and not on the drivers side where the master cylinder would be. Here's the 2 AWG power wire going through the firewall right behind the intercooler. There is a factory grommet here, which we used... very convenient. sounds like it's smack dab in the middle of the firewall to me. Why would you want to route it out behind the gas pedal anyways?? djd775
Manville's location is a great location to use but I want to stay on the drivers side of the car if possible. I think if I did have a grommet near there gas pedal it would actually be above it without any interference problems. That all being said I'm going to give the fender well a try for routing the wire this weekend.
SkiDaddy
What was the resolution on this for a 5 speed manual Turbo? If using the grommet in the center behind the intercooler how do you get to it from the inside?
PGT
it comes out to the drivers side of the console. Don't bother disassembling it - just pull up the carpet and push the power wire from the engine bay. You'll see it come out on it's own.
wcbjr
+1 for the driver's side fenderwell option. I was actually able to run my 0 gauge through that spot. It comes in right by the door's wiring. I forgot what I was supposed to remember.

CDN 2.5i
Arrrgggh. I've been struggling to get my 4AWG power cable through the grommet mentioned in previous posts (one used by Manville). I can get almost a foot stuffed in through the hole but can't find it on the inside - it starts to bunch up and doesn't seem to go anywhere. Presume it's a just keep at it until you get it kind of thing but I'm tired and frustrated . Any tips?
