mikem01
Looking for suggestions on new catalytic converters for my 05 gt. Car is completely stock so I'm not looking to upgrade or want anything that will need a tune. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
Notorious
Buying one through the exhaust shop that will weld it in for you may be cheaper than buying it yourself and having it installed. If you live in California or New York the replacement will need a CARB number or else you will fail visual smog inspections.
whitetiger
rockauto.com generally has them for fairly cheap if you want bolt-ons.
BoozeRS05
Knowing what make and model you had would help us too. Many locals on this board or local classifieds might be of help with regard to good used parts. JmP6889928
Why does it need new catalytic converters? If they're fouled, you have something else going on to make them go bad. If all is right with the engine health, they are designed to basically last forever, so I would be looking at other reasons as to why they are bad. 08SpecB_DE
If you plan on keeping the car, buy factory cars. If you plan on selling in the next few months, buy aftermarket. Aftermarket cats generally last about a year, so while you save money upfront, it will bite you in the long run.
Max Capacity
Lots of us take off the OEM down pipe which has cats and replace it with a 3" catted DP and a Cobb AP. The cars runs better and still passes emissions test. Gets better MPG too. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).
