youngtryhard Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 Hey guys i decided instead of paying a shop to do the work I wanted to fix the car myself I’m pretty mechanically inclined i have all the tools i believe engine hoist, engine holder, but ive never pulled an engine or rebuilt one. Im getting a new short block oem and im gonna get my heads done and put new valves in and timing belt also new clutch, re do al the air lines, new oil pump. But the problem is i don’t really know what I’m doing for the most part so if anyone wants to walk me through this or help me out during the process that would be great. Wasted Potential Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 I think someone on YouTube did a motor pull. I'm too lazy to fish for it though. Just type it in
JazzAvi8r Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 where are you located? I've done this plenty of times and wouldn't mind helping you out. I'm actually doing this on a 2011 STi as we speak. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/sti-rebuild-268211.html I'll PM you my cell number; feel free to shoot me a text if you have any questions or run in to any issues.
200kSpecB Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 I just went through the same thing last summer, taught myself everything using vacation pics and What's the reason for the rebuild? If you had any sort of metal in the system I would recommend replacing all oil related parts as well (ie. oil lines, OCVs, oil cooler, oil pan + pickup, AVCS gears, etc). Good luck!
