Mike07LGT
OEM is best usually. Unless fully built 03 WRB WRX (RIP) 04 JBP STI (sold) 07 DGM Legacy GT (RIP) 12 OBP STI (DD)
alittletippy
OEM is best usually. Unless fully built OP is asking about head gaskets in a 2.5i na engine, not a turbo engine. The head gaskets in the na motor are absolute shit. Almost guaranteed they will start to leak oil before your first timing belt job is needed. Max Capacity
Does ARP make head studs that will fit a 2.5i ? Were the heads and block checked for flatness by a machine shop ? Cometic head gaskets were the HG of choice for high HP boosted Honda's 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). amm203
+1 on FelPro PermaTorque MLS gaskets. They were recommended by a reputable foreign auto shop near me when I had my old 2003 Legacy gaskets replaced. The old girl has been running great since (~20K miles on the new gaskets) As to why - I'd say any gasket from a manufacturer with good reviews is worthwhile as long as it is multi-layer steel (MLS). Also, when I had my gaskets replaced the shop I took it to had the heads & block resurfaced by NAPA. Goes without saying but it is a good idea to have that done.
